5 OPERATING

5.1 PUTTING INTO OPERATION

Maintenance work and inspection must be done each time before using
the unit. Start operating as described above.
Warning
Using chemicals can lead to danger. Always wear goggles and
protective gloves. Avoid breathing in the fumes which arise.
On contact with the skin, wash thoroughly with clean water.
5.1.1 Unit adjustment
MSG
You can only create dark script with the MSG 1. This unit cannot be
adjusted. However, you can influence the script results by the length of time
you use the unit. Please refer to the scripting electrolyte list to
find out which electrolyte you need for various materials.
Information
To avoid salt rims on the workpiece: wipe the cleaned
workpiece well using the high-performance cleaning cloth light-
ly moistened with water and Neutralyt.
5.2 INSCRIBING WITH THE MSG
5.2.1 How to obtain the best results
a strong oxidising effect. Be very careful therefore when handling chemi-
cals. Avoid smearing electrolyte. Wash your hands frequently.
Make sure there is a good power contact through the moistened felt. Dry
felt prevents flow of power. With time, stencils collect salts and metal resi-
dues so they should be cleaned and rinsed frequently, even during batches.
When continuing with the job, electrolyte can also be used for cleaning.
For small surfaces, simply press down. Larger surfaces are worked by
making regular strokes over the stencil. It takes about 1.5 to 2 seconds.
If the inscription appears rusty, then either shorten the time or reduce the
voltage. The whole surface of the hand-held wand should be placed flat on
the stencil and moved slightly,
-> electrolyte flows better through the stencil.
Do not overheat the stencil, it would cause premature wear and tear. As
the electrolyte evaporates, the stencil becomes sticky. With time it must
be replaced as dirty stencils give a bad result. Darkened felt must also be
exchanged regularly. The larger the inscription area, the quicker the felt
becomes dirty. Good results depend on various factors and they can even
vary within material batches. Before starting a job, test the quality of in-
scription on a spare workpiece or on a cut-off. By using various parameters
