Painting and sealing
Painting
In order to properly care for your outdoor sauna and to protect it from the weather, it is advisable to regularly
apply a glaze to the outside. A glaze is a transparent or semi-transparent wood coating that protects the wood
from UV radiation, moisture and mold. Here are the steps you should follow to properly glaze your outdoor
sauna:
1. Thoroughly clean the wood with a mild detergent and a sponge or brush. Rinse the wood well with clear water
and let it dry completely.
2. Apply the glaze evenly to the cleaned and dry wood with a brush or spray device. It is recommended to use an
environmentally friendly glaze without any harmful ingredients to protect health and the environment.
3. Allow the glaze to dry completely before applying another coat. Depending on the glaze and environmental
conditions, you may need several layers.
4. Be sure to touch up the stain every few years to continue protecting the wood.
By glazing your outdoor sauna, you not only protect the wood, but also give it a beautiful appearance. In
addition, regular stain care can help the wood last longer and become less susceptible to damage from the
elements.
Choose a glaze of the desired color and apply according to the manufacturer's directions for a pleasing finish.
Sealing
After the glaze has been applied, a silicone joint must be drawn between the EPDM foil of the roof and the
wooden panel of the front and rear walls. The silicone joint prevents water from getting under the wooden panel
and damaging the wood. Make sure the grout is pulled evenly and completely along the edge to ensure an
effective seal.
