2 - Pull up the filter cartridge
3 - Open the cassette and remove the filter. The filter
can be cleaned as needed, with compressed air or wa-
ter. If water is used, the filter must be dry before inser-
tion. If the filter is very dirty, it needs to be replaced.
Be sure to position the filter correctly when inserting.
The filter is mounted in reverse order.
Inspection of material blowers
Blowers designed for material transport, must regularly
have rotor and blower housing inspected for breakage,
cracks and abrasion.
It is associated with great risk, operating a blower with
worn out or damaged rotor and / or blower housing, as
rotor parts in worst case could be flung out through the
blower housing. Furthermore, operation with worn ro-
tor will reduce the lifetime of the motor bearings and
blower vibration dampers.
In addition, it must be checked whether a layer of mate-
rial has been built up in the blower housing or on the
rotor. This layer could, at worst, be able to cause imbal-
ance in the rotor, and reduce efficiency on the blower.
When removing this material, this must be done thor-
oughly and evenly, to prevent further imbalance in the
rotor.
Always turn off the power to the blower before the in-
spection, and be sure to lock the main switch, so that
the blower cannot be started by mistake. Remove pip-
ing on inlet and outlet side of the blower housing, so
that a thorough overhaul of the rotor and blower hous-
ing can be made.
The wear depends on the material, the quantity and
the associated air velocity. It is recommended to check
the blower after it has been in operation with the cur-
rent material after 1 month, and thereafter for 5 months,
with 1 month intervals. This is done, to get an overview
of how fast it can be expected, that the rotor and blower
housing are worn up, or such a thick material layer has
been built up, that it must be removed.
When the rotor or blower housing is worn down to 85%
or less of original wall thickness, they must be replaced.
Annual inspection
Once a year, the following must be done:
Visually inspect all covers and pipe connections for
attachment and tightness
Check tightening of cables and connections
Check the frequency converter cooling blower(s),
including possibly cleaning for dust (MultiAir FC/
FCE)
Check the gas dampers of the doors and the lock-
ing devices of the doors
Clean the blower motor, since dust and the like will
reduce engine efficiency and service life
MultiAir FC/FCE: The frequency converter is equipped
with 2 cooling blowers, running as soon as the main
switch is connected.
Life expectancy for cooling blowers is approx. 4-6 years
of continuous operation, after which they will decrease
in speed, and stop at last (see section "Troubleshoot-
ing"). The cooling blowers should be replaced before
their performance deteriorates significantly, to ensure
proper cooling of the frequency converter.
MultiAir FCE: The filters in the control cabinet are locat-
ed behind the intake grille on the left side and behind
the exhaust grille on the cooling fan on the right side.
The filters can be inspected as follows:
1. Press both clips on the outside of the control cabi-
net to release the plastic frame.
2. Remove the frame.
3. Remove the filter and clean if necessary.
4. Reinstall in reverse order.
The MultiAir blower must be stored in a dry and non-
corrosive atmosphere, at temperatures between -20 °C
and +55 °C.
