Operating tips

Hold the power tool firmly with both hands
EN
while working. (Figure "D")
Before drilling wood, chipboard, building material
etc., check the material for foreign bodies such as
nails or screws and remove any such foreign bod-
ies found.
Switch the power tool on and guide it towards
the material to be processed.
Place the shoe 5 on the surface of the mate-
rial to be processed and saw through the ma-
terial with even downward or forward
pressure. (Figure "E")
After completing work, switch off the power
tool.
If the saw blade jams, switch the power tool off im-
mediately. Use a suitable tool to press the sawn
surfaces apart a little and pull the power tool out of
the material.
Recommended cutting rate
The required cutting rate depends on the material
and the working conditions and can be ascer-
tained by trial and error.
We recommend reducing the cutting rate when
applying the saw blade to the material and when
sawing plastic and aluminium.
Use high cutting rates when sawing soft materials
such as wood. Use low cutting rates when sawing
metal.
Plunge-cutting (Figure "F")
-NOTE-
Only soft materials such as wood, plasterboard
etc. may be processed using the plunge-cutting
process! Do not use the plunge-cutting process to
saw metals!
Always use short saw blades for plunge-cutting.
Apply the edge of the power tool shoe 5 to the ma-
terial without allowing the saw blade 8 to touch the
material, and switch the power tool on. Select the
maximum cutting rate. Press the power tool firmly
against the material and slowly insert the saw
blade into the material.
As soon as the shoe is pressed fully against the
material, saw along the desired line.

Flush sawing
Elastic bi-metallic saw blades can be used
e. g. to saw off protruding elements such as water
pipes directly at the wall.
Ensure that the saw blade is always longer than
the diameter of the material to be processed.
There is a danger of kickback.
Apply the saw blade directly at the wall and bend
it slightly by applying sideways pressure to the
power tool until the footplate lies against the wall.
Switch the power tool on and saw through the ma-
terial, applying constant lateral pressure.
Cutouts
For cutout sections, a hole must be cut, i. e. a
starting point from which the saw is applied.
Sawing metal
Due to the heating of the metal along the cutting
line, a cooling agent or lubricant should be applied
when sawing metal.
Sheet metal should be fixed on a suitable surface
(chipboard or plywood board). To a large extent,
this prevents the material rebounding.
Sawing plastic
Always work with a low cutting rate. Perform a trial
cut to check whether the material is heat-sensi-
tive.

5. Tools and accessories

Selecting the saw blade (Figure "E")
Use only saw blades with a T-shaft. The saw
blade should not be longer than is necessary for
the cut which is to be made.
Use a narrow saw blade for sawing tight curves.
To prevent strong kickback, always use saw
blades of lengths which protrude at least 40 mm
beyond the dimensions of the material during the
cutting cycle.
Check your tools regularly and replace them as
necessary. Damage of severe wear on the inser-
tion end can cause damage to your equipment.
Ensure that the tools (saw blades) are always
stored in the compartment provided for this pur-
pose in the toolcase. This helps to prevent the
