4 Seat belt of the bench seat V3000
4.1 Length of the webbing
The belt is properly installed if the webbing allows about 10 cm of free space when rolled up. This free space is
necessary so that the belt does not block when changing the backrest from the bed to the seating position.
Furthermore, the free space facilitates the release of the retractor after a blockage. If the retractor blocks the unwind-
ing of the belt, it can help to provide the retractor with some webbing to roll up. Sometimes it also helps to pull briefly
and vigorously on the belt and then it should be rolled off as usual.
In case of problems with the belt, please follow the instructions in chap. 4.3.
4.2 Position sensor of the retractor
The seat belts of the V3000 seat are a homologated occupant protection system of type Ar4m. They are homologated
according to ECE R16 under the number E2 0603064.
For the best possible occupant protection, the belts also have an acceleration sensor and a position sensor that
detects the deviation of the belt from the target position in the event of a rollover and blocks the belt run.
This sensor has a tolerance range to the zero position of 36 degrees.
The tolerance is divided in such a way that the tolerated deviation of the vehicle from the horizontal position in the
two directions is approximately the same. The resulting tolerance range is shown in Abb. 4-1.
Abb. 4-1: Angle range of the position sensor, tolerance ± 2° [A0003864-000-00_01]
On steep inclines or descents, this can cause the seat belt to block and not pull out. This is intentional and cannot
be turned off because it is an integral function of the belt system and the seat system is tested in conjunction with
this belt system.
In case of problems with the belt, please follow the instructions in chap. 4.3.
