8. Setting up

Always keep the appliance, the power cord and the power plug clear of hot surfaces (e.g. stove). Never use
the appliance near naked flames.
The power cord must not be left hanging over the edge of a table or pinched.
Choose a level, stable and slip-proof workplace for the appliance where it is protected from splashing water
and cannot be reached by children. The workplace must be clean and dust-free as well.
The appliance should be installed near a wall outlet.

9. Before first use

• Make sure you remove all packaging materials from the appliance and accessories.
• Clean the appliance and accessories as described in the "Care and cleaning" section before using them for the
first time.

10. Mains connection

Only a proper mains socket with a protective earth contact of the public supply grid may be used as a volt-
age source.
Before plugging the appliance into the mains socket, ensure that the voltage indicated on the name plate
of the appliance matches the actual mains voltage. If not, do not connect the appliance to the mains. If the
supply voltage is incorrect, serious damage and danger to the user may result.
The mains socket the appliance is connected to must be readily accessible so that the appliance can be
quickly and easily disconnected from the mains socket in the event of a fault.
Make sure the appliance is switched off before connecting it to or disconnecting it from the mains.
Make sure that the power cord is not pinched or damaged by sharp edges. Always lay the cables so that
nobody can trip over or become entangled in them. Risk of injury!
Exercise caution when handling power cords and mains connections. Mains voltages can cause fatal
electric shocks.
• Unwind the power cord completely.
• Plug the power plug into a mains socket.
