2.3. Description, Installation and Commissioning of sensors

The WS 3001 sensor design consists of two groups of sensors. The S 2000 ID is
essential for the operation of the weather station (for further information see 2.3.1)
It sends a fixed preset data telegram. The sensor is ready for use instantly as an
address is only required in rare cases.
The address is only required if within the sensor range (up to 100 m) two base
stations each with an associated indoor sensor are to be operated (base station 1
shall display the data of indoor sensor 1 and base station 2 the data of indoor
sensor 2).
In addition the S 2000 R, the S 2500 H brightness sensor and the S 2000 W wind
sensor have fixed addresses and belong to this group. Their readings have a fixed
position in the display (see page 52, Display field – Overview).
The second group of sensors are the S 2000 I, S 2001 IA , S 2000 A, AS 2000 and
ASH 2000. A maximum of eight of this type of sensor can be used and are selected
using the sensor selection on the display. Therefore each has to be assigned an
address. For these types, be sure to observe the instructions for addressing.

2.3.1 S 2000 ID Indoor sensor

The S 2000 ID indoor sensor requires two Mignon cells for operation. It comprises
a temperature, humidity and air pressure sensor. As well as indoor temperature and
indoor humidity it measures the air pressure and is necessary for the display of the
air pressure, the air pressure tendency, the weather tendency and the air pressure
history.
To inset the batteries, open the battery holder on the rear side of the housing.
Observe the polarity details in the battery holder and insert the batteries as shown.
Re-close the battery cover. Now you can secure or place the sensor at the required
mounting location. Please note that the sensor is not intended for operation in the
open or in rooms with very high humidity. After inserting the batteries the sensor is
ready for operation.

2.3.2 S 2000 W wind sensor

The wind sensor measures both the wind direction and the wind speed at the
mounting location. It is powered by a solar cell, and a back-up battery during the
hours of darkness, and has a non-user definable address.
It is mounted either on a mast or high up on a wall. It is important at the sensor
location that the solar cell in the sensor housing faces directly south and is unshielded
on all sides, i.e. the wind can reach the sensor unimpeded from all sides.
The exact alignment of the sensor to the south is very important as this alignment
acts as reference for the wind directional measuring device.
In order to obtain precise measurements ensure that the sensor is mounted vertically
in the mounting tube.
