4.7 Installing and preparing the sensor unit
KESSEL recommends that cable conduit and the cable
gland set (art. no. 917823) always be installed for grease
separators that are installed in the ground. These enable
the grease layer thickness measuring device to be retrofitted
later.
Notes on installing or preparing the layer thickness measur-
ing device for grease separators:
To prevent damage to the separator, and to ensure com-
pliance with its structural calculation, the distance to the
top of the tank, and the angle with the outlet must be
complied with.
The connection distance between the separator and the
control unit must be kept as short as possible and must
be laid with a constant slope down to the tank.
Always make changes in direction with 45° bends.
Lay cable conduit DN 40 (OD 50 mm).
Use a hole saw (Ø60 mm) to drill the opening for the
cable conduit. Follow the drilling instructions for KESSEL
hole saws (Document No. 010-090 ).
Insert and grease the pipe penetration seal included in
the set.
Dismantle the cable gland of the cable gland set.
Pass through cable using a pull wire.
Insert cable gland set and connect to cable conduit by
bonding or PVC-U pipe.
Pass through the probe cable, tightly close the cable
gland.
Installing the sensor unit
For the installation, a basic differentiation must be made
between whether the separator is intended for normal instal-
lation in the ground (Version A) or deeper installation (Ver-
sion B - extension section LW800 is included). For both
versions, the layer thickness measuring device must be
installed with a bracket on the upper section.
Place the drilling template (A) at the bottom of the upper
section.
Pre-drill 2x with Ø6mm. Careful, do not drill into the seal!
Remove the drilling template.
Screw in two stainless steel screws, ensure that the dis-
tance between the screw heads and upper section is
approx. 25 mm.
Position the bracket (C) on the installed stainless steel
screws.
Clip the sensor unit into the bracket (C), or into the exten-
sion pipe (E). If necessary, adjust the retaining clips of
the extension pipe (F), so that the cable of the sensor unit
lies above the water table later. Then clip the extension
pipe into the bracket.
Align the sensor unit, at the same time, ensure that the
sensor fingers have more than 30 cm free space and that
the red flag (D) is at the height of the static level.
Lay the electrical cable as described in the instructions
enclosed with the sensor unit and connect to the control
unit.
Attach the warning sticker in a clearly visible place.
