6.3.2 / Rescuer access over the ground (Fig. 8). 1) Operator A climbs the pylon
uphill from the above the chair from which people are to be evacuated, protecting
himself with a fall arrester device (3) (Fig. 8.1). 2) When he reaches the top of
the pylon, A makes himself safe with a positioning lanyard (4). A attaches onto
the cable running downhill from the pylon an Easy Rescue (7), under which a
haul system (16) is attached and he holds the pulley in position. Operator B, who
stands at the foot of the pylon, uses an additional rope (17) passed through the
pulley to pull the haul system down to the ground (Fig. 8.2). 3) Operator B lets the
pulley assembly slide down the cable until the pulley rests against the first chair
along the cable. Operator A climbs down off the pylon (Fig. 8.3). 4) Operator
C connects himself to the haul system and B winches him up until he reaches the
chairlift, taking in the rope through a self-braking descender (8) (Fig. 8.4). 5)
Operator C attaches himself to the chairlift using a positioning lanyard (4) and fits
each of the people to be rescued with evacuation triangles (13) and secures them
to the chairlift. He can then lift the chair's safety bar, disconnects himself from the
haul system, connects the haul system to the evacuation triangle of the first person
to be rescued and disconnects them from the chairlift. Operator B on the ground
winches the person upwards so that they are lifted off the seat and lowers them
to the ground using the self-braking descender (18). This procedure is repeated
until the chairlift has been completely evacuated (Fig. 8.5). Moving to the next
car. 6) Operator C reconnects himself to the haul system (16) and detaches the
positioning lanyard (4). Operator B winches up C until he reaches the cable and
connects himself to it with the positioning lanyard (4) (Fig. 8.6). 7) C moves Easy
Rescue and positions it on the downhill side of the chair and attaches himself to
the haul system (Fig. 8.7). 8) Operator B moves downhill of the chair so that the
rope runs around the arm of the chair which acts as a pulley (R). C detaches the
positioning lanyard and hangs on the haul system. Operator B lets Easy Rescue
from which C is hanging slide down the cable using the self-braking descender
(18), until it reaches the next chair along the cable (Fig. 8.8).
7) LEGEND. Anchor (Fig. 1.1); User (Fig. 1.2).
