Setup
a) Preparation for mounting
The escape route sign must be secured with a 10/16A fuse in the on-site
sub-distribution unit. An earth circuit fault interrupter must be installed before this
(FI protective switch).
The installation of the escape route sign may only be carried out in a voltage/current-free
state. Make sure that the product is disconnected from the mains!
Caution! The product must only be installed by a qualified electrician who is familiar
with the relevant regulations (e.g. VDE)! By carrying out improper work on the mains
voltage you endanger not only yourself, but also others! If you are not sure how to
install the product, consult a specialist. Do not attempt to install it yourself.
• Plan the installation site carefully so that the escape route sign is in the desired position
after installation.
• Only install the escape route sign on a stable surface. Depending on the surface, suitable
screws and dowels must be used.
• Isolate all poles of the mains cable from the mains supply by removing the electric circuit
fuse or switching off the circuit breaker. Then turn off the earth leakage circuit breaker.
Protect it against an unauthorised restart, e.g. with a danger sign.
• Check that the mains cable is free of current, e.g. with an appropriate testing device.
b) Installation and connection
Ensure that no cables or wires are damaged when drilling holes or tightening
screws. Accidentally drilling into electrical cables can cause a fatal electric shock!
• There are 4 different installation options.
• Use the appropriate bracket as a template for drilling holes.
• Check if the included screws and dowels are suitable for the wall properties. Suitable
fasteners are available from specialist dealers.
Ceiling attachment, suspended escape route sign
• Use the ceiling bracket (8). The cable grip is only required for this type of installation. Guide
the supply line from the LED housing (6) through the opening of the ceiling bracket and
connect the 4 wires of the supply line to the 4-pole lustre terminal (brown = L/phase,
black = LS/phase switch, blue = N/neutral conductor, yellow-green = PE/protective conductor/
earth symbol). Connect the 4 wires of the supply line from the ceiling to the opposite side of the
lustre terminal.
• Then attach the cable grip. As shown in the Illustration.
• To adjust the length of the suspended escape route
sign, press the small buttons on the underside of the
ceiling bracket, through which the cables run.
• You can cut off excess cable with a suitable tool if necessary.
• Then attach the ceiling bracket using two long screws for dowel fastening.
Ceiling
Ceiling installation
• Use the ceiling bracket (9) for this purpose.
• Remove the cable attachment (1) and two cables from the LED housing.
• For connection to the mains supply line, a four-pole lustre terminal is required.
• Make a hole in the ceiling. As shown in the Illustration. Insert the escape route sign into the
ceiling bracket from above.
press here
• Connect the mains supply line and then mount the escape route sign on the suspended
ceiling using the retaining clips.

Wall mounting
Wall
Side wall mounting
• For this purpose you need the side wall bracket (10). After drilling the holes and inserting the
dowels, attach the side wall bracket to the wall with three long screws.
• Remove the cable attachment (1) from the LED housing with a suitable cross screwdriver.
• Guide the mains supply line up through the hole in the side wall bracket and slide the LED
housing into the bracket. Screw the LED housing tight to the side wall bracket with a short
screw.
• Connect the mains supply line.
Wall mounting
• For this purpose you need two wall brackets (11). After drilling the holes and inserting the
dowels, attach each of the wall brackets to the wall with a long screw.
• Remove the cable attachments (1) from the LED housing with a suitable cross screwdriver.
• Screw the LED housing tight to each of the wall brackets with a short screw.
• Guide the supply line to the correct position on the wall. Connect the mains supply line.
c) Attaching and replacing the pictogram
Attach the pictogram
• Select the correct pictogram (5) and fix it on both sides with the screw fasteners (4). You can
use your fingers to screw t and loosen the screw fasteners. If they are too tight, you can use
a suitable tool (for example, combination pliers).
d) Switch on and check the escape route sign
• Turn on the power and check that the CHARGE LED (3) lights up green. If the LED does
not light green, check the cable connections for proper connection. A green LED indicates
that the rechargeable battery is charging. Charge the rechargeable battery for 24 hours.
• Then, check that the battery works in case of a power interruption and the escape sign LEDs
are on. To simulate a power interruption, press the TEST button (2). This will interrupt the
power supply. The CHARGE LED goes out. The LEDs of the emergency light go out briefly
(about 1 second) and should then light up again.
• It is recommended to do this check once a month. The test result can be entered in the table
on the last page of this manual.
• If the LEDs do not light up, check the rechargeable battery cable connection. If the
connection is OK, the battery must be replaced.
• Press the TEST button again to reconnect the escape sign to the mains. The CHARGE LED
lights up in green. The product is ready for operation.
