Intended purpose
medi orthocox is a bandage used for
compression of the hip and thigh.
Indications
All indications which require post-
operative compression of the hip or
thigh, such as:
• Intertrochanteric corrective
osteotomy
• Internal fixation of pertrochanteric
fractures
• Total hip arthroplasty

Contraindications

• Septic complications after interven-
tions on the hip joint
• Post-operative treatment of septic
disease, e.g. abscesses

Important notes

Due to the compression effect on the
trochanters, particular attention must
be paid to the arterial blood supply to
this area.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should
provide care to the adults and children,
applying the available information on
the measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line
with the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.

Fitting instructions

• medi orthocox is worn around the hips
and the thigh (fig. 1).
• For hip compression pass the upper
free end around your pelvis. Adjust the
tension to vary the compression to suit
the patient (fig. 2).
• Pass the lower free end around the
proximal part of the thigh. The elastic
tension of the material exerts pressure
to reduce external rotation of the leg
(fig. 3).
• The free ends of the support are
secured by broad hook and loop
fasteners, thus enabling the patient
to ad-just compression and thigh
rotation indipendently (fig. 4).
Care instructions
We recommend using a laundry bag.
Hook and loop fasteners should be
closed for washing. Soap residues,
lotions and ointments can cause skin
irritation and material wear.
• Wash the product by hand, preferably
using a medi clean detergent, or in
delicate cycle at 95°C using a mild
detergent without fabric conditioners.
• Do not bleach.
• Dry at max. temperatures of up to 80°C
• Do not iron.
• Do not dry clean.
    
Storage instructions
Keep the product in a dry place and do
not expose to direct sunlight.

Liability
The manufacturer's liability will
become void if the product is not used
as intended. Please also refer to the
corresponding safety information and
instructions in this manual.
Disposal
The product can be disposed of in
the domestic waste.
