In addition, the
pipe hooks
assembled on the connector.
When using these pipe hooks, it is generally
prohibited to re-hook the hook into the fastener
by wrapping the attachment point around it.
Furthermore, it must be ensured that the hook
does not tilt at the attachment point, thus
creating a transverse load.
Possible variations of pipe hooks on the
connecting element:

9.1 Brief instructions for the use of
fasteners
9.1.1 With knurled nut (manual locking)
Operation:
Take the connecting element in hand and turn
the locking sleeve anti-clockwise. Then, press
together the latch towards the inside of the hook.

The connection element is now opened. To
close, first slide the latches forwards into the
catch and let them slot into place. Then turn the
knurled nut clockwise (upwards) until the
connecting element is correctly closed. In order
to ensure safe working, both catches must
always be closed.
In case of deformation or cracking, the
connecting element must be withdrawn from use
immediately.
During use, care must be taken to ensure that
the fastener is only stressed along its
longitudinal axis and not transversely (closure).

The knurled nut must always be closed,
i.e. tightened, when working at a higher
level. Manually lockable fasteners should
only be used if the user does not have to
hook and unhook the fastener very often
during the working day.
9.1.2 With automatic locking
Operation:
These karabiners (connecting elements) can be
operated in two ways:
a. With the hook opening facing forward,
hook arch pointing towards the stretched
thumb
b. Placed exactly opposite as in a.:
Hook arch points to the ball of the hand,
hook opening points to the fingers
(mainly used for work positioning)
In both cases, however, the operation is the
same:
First, the "palm strap" is pressed towards the
hook body with the ball of the hand, then the
"closing strap" is opened with the fingertips and
the tip of the opened and the bent hook body is
fixed in a catching eye or stop eye or, in the
case of so-called pipe hooks, the hook body is
hooked over a pipe/beam. Then the hook is
released, the closing flap closes the opening of
the hook body by itself, the palm flap then
secures the closed closing flap in its state (the
correct closing of the snap hook must be
checked without fail).
9.1.3 Karabiners with an automatic closure
device and lock:
Operation:
Pick up the connector and turn the locking
sleeve anti-clockwise. Then, press together the
latch towards the inside of the hook. The
connection element is now opened. To close,
first slide the latches forwards into the catch and
