USE
Check Before Use
Intactness of facepiece, valves, head harness
and visor. Valve flaps must be flexible, clean and not
distorted.
Filter condition and intactness. Shake the filter

components/contents. The filter shall be replaced if it
has been exposed to excessive force or impact. It
may be damaged, also by a fall on a hard surface,
even when attached to a blower device.
That the filter is not clogged, saturated or time
expired and is suitable for the hazards that may be
encountered.
That the battery is fully charged (Fig. 6,
charger's green light on).
Donning ( Fig. 3)
Check that the filter gasket in the front port is in
place, attach the filter to the mask.
Connect the battery to the waistbelt by aligning
the open lock symbol with the cable. Engage all
three lugs and turn the battery until the closed lock
symbol is aligned with the cable.
Don the belt.
Screw in the cable connector on the mask.
Slacken the head harness straps.
Fit the chin into the chin-cup and pull the
harness over the head.
Tighten the straps. Start with the neck straps,
pull backwards (not outwards). Then adjust the
temple straps and finally the upper strap. The
cradle/net lies centered on the back of the head.
Check that the faceseal touches the skin all
around, especially under the chin-cup.

Leaktest (Battery in Power OFF) ( Fig. 4)
Place the palm of the hand over the filter inlet.
Inhale gently - the mask should pull onto the
face.
Hold your breath for 10 seconds. If the
facemask pulls away from the face, the correct seal
has not been achieved.
Check that the filter is properly fitted and adjust
the faceseal to the face, then repeat the test.
Verify airflow ( Fig. 4a)
When using a PV251 or PF251/2 particle filter,
turn the battery to power ON position by aligning the
fan symbol with the cable and listen for the first
'beep'. Within 30 s there is a multiple 'beep' which
indicatesthat the airflow is correct.
If the mask does not seal correctly, DO NOT
use.
DO NOT remove the facemask until well
clear of the hazard area.
Warning buzzer
A sound signal indicates that battery voltage is
below optimum level.

AFTER USE

Cleaning ( Fig. 5)
When cleaning the respirator, suitable
precautions must be taken against the inhalation
of any harmful dusts and contaminants that may
be present on the outer surfaces. Carry out
cleaning and decontamination in a safe area.
Respirator can be worn under decontamination
shower without detaching any components. If using
the rubber filter shower cover (5552694), fit only on
entering the shower and remove as soon as
showering is complete.
After showering component parts need to be
separated and wiped clean during decontamination
in a safe area.
DO NOT use solvents, detergents or abrasive
cleaners.
Mask and Inner Mask
1.
Unscrew the cable connector from the mask.
Remove the filter and the blower+inner mask.
