11 Phantom Vision
WARNINGS
Users must be familiar with workplace hazards prior to using the equipment and must be fully
trained in the use of the apparatus.
This Manual must be read in conjunction with the Filter manual prior to using the equipment.
Refer to national regulations.
This product must only be used with filters manufactured by Scott Health & Safety. The use of any
other filters will negate the approval and will be likely to reduce the level of protection provided.
DO NOT modify facemasks as this will invalidate all approvals and may result in death or injury to
the wearer.
Do not confuse the filter markings of EN 12942 (protection class with a blower device) with
markings relating to other standards.
The filtering device must not be used if the environment and contamination is unknown. In case of
doubt, isolating respirators (air supply) which function independently of the atmosphere must be
used.
Particle filters are only allowed for single use if they are applied against radioactive agents or
micro-organisms (virus, bacteria, fungi and spores).
Change the filter if contaminant can be smelled, tasted, or if the canister is clogged (breathing
resistance comes too high). Filter service time depends upon the density of contaminant in the
atmosphere, wearer work rate and heart/lung efficiency.
The weight of filter used with a full face mask shall not exceed 500 g.
DO NOT use if the respirator or filter is damaged. DO NOT use if the filter is clogged or time-
expired (see filter label).
It is unlikely that the requirements for leakage will be achieved if beard, hair, spectacle side arms
or clothing intrude into the faceseal.
Protection will only be obtained if the unit is fitted correctly.
DO NOT use in confined spaces (cisterns, tanks), oxygen deficient atmospheres (<18%), oxygen
enriched atmospheres (>23%) or where there is an immediate hazard to life or health.
DO NOT use if the ambient temperature is outside of the range -10 °C to +50 °C. Relative
humidity (RH) max 95 %.
DO NOT use in an explosive atmosphere, where the explosion hazard requires the use of
Intrinsically safe respiratory protective equipment.
Working with open fire or molten metal splashes poses a severe risk of ignition for filters
containing activated carbon (gas filters and combined filters), whereby hazardous toxic
concentrations can rapidly build up.
The blower must be running while using the respirator. If the blower turns off by accident or in the
unlikely event of power failure, do not remove, the device will function as a negative respirator.
This is considered an abnormal situation and the carbon dioxide levels may instantly rise. Exit the
hazardous area immediately, remove the respirator and report the fault.
At very high work rates, pressure inside the facemask may become negative at peak inhalation.
Protection levels may be reduced if wind speed exceeds 2 m/s..
Do not immerse blower and battery.
