2. REMOVE PIECES OF TURF
a. Carefully remove all grass, plants and sod
from the marked area to a depth of 10-15 cm
(see Fig. 2A-5).
b. Remove all sticks, pebbles and roots from the
marked area.
c. If you are going to sink the pool in the ground,
it is necessary to carry out excavation work
to a depth according to special installation
preparations.
3. ADJUST THE MARKED AREA TO
BE FLAT, HORIZONTAL AND FIRM
Remember: Your pool must be horizontal. Take
the time to make the surface perfectly horizon-
tal. The deviation from the horizontal must not
exceed 25 mm (see Fig. 2A-9).
a. Hammer all three stakes to ground level and
measure them with a spirit level. They must
be in a horizontal plane.
b. Take a prism with a cross section of 5x10 cm
and a length that corresponds to the S dimen-
sion in the table on page 6 for the respective
pool size. Hammer a nail into one end. Use
a nail long enough to hold the end of the
prism on the stake as you rotate the prism in
a circle (Fig. 2A-7).
c. Drill a hole in the centre of the stakes [A], [B]
and [C], large and deep enough for the nail
to rotate (Fig. 2A-6). The nail must be easily
pulled out of the stake and at the same time
allow free rotation around its axis.
d. Now insert the prism with a nail into the stake
hole [A]. Place a spirit level on the prism and
move the prism in a circle around the end na-
iled to the stake to locate the elevated areas
and depressions (Fig. 2A-8).
e. Remove all elevated areas with a shovel, hoe or rake. Remember, your pool must
be horizontal to a tolerance of 25 mm across the pool (Fig. 2A-9). If necessary,
hammer the stakes [A], [B] and [C] deeper.
f. Do not fill low spots (Fig. 2A-10). Backfilling does not create a safe base for your
pool. Small depressions can be filled, but the backfill must be firmly compacted
with a rammer. Use sifted sand to even out the unevenness. However, the layer of
sand must not exceed 2 cm.
g. Pull the 5x10 cm prism from the stake [A] and insert it into the second stake [B]
and then into the third stake [C] on the axis line. Repeat steps a. to f. until the
entire surface of the oval is planar.
