13 Initial operation

Ensure that nobody stays in the vicinity of the driven trim flap. Crushing hazard!
After turning on of the power supply, a short self-test is done. Hereby, all segments of the bar display
are sequentially turned on and off.
After the self test, one single segment of the bar display should be lit. If not, please go to chap.

If incorrect, the right direction of the bar display can be achieved by swapping both outer connection
wires of the potentiometer "R
If incorrect, the correct direction of travel of the trim flap can be achieved by swapping both motor
connection wires.
By the blocking current of the actuator motor, the "ERR"-LED can be lit at the extreme ends of the
mechanical travel. The indication should disappear, once the pushbutton is been released and hence
the motor is not blocking any more. This is not a malfunction of the device.

13.1 Functional check

The following functional check should be done before each flight:
1. Turn on the 12 V bus power. Actuator motor and bar display should show no movement.
2. Move pushbutton to one side and keep pushing it. The actuator motor has to move the trim
flap until its mechanical stop. At the same time, the bar display has to show the position
synchronous to the trim flap position. Release pushbutton.
3. Move pushbutton to the other side and keep pushing it. The actuator motor has to move the
trim flap to its other mechanical stop. At the same time, the bar display has to show the
position synchronous to the trim flap position. Release pushbutton.
4. Move pushbutton to the first chosen side and hold it until the trim flap and the bar display is
in the central position.
14 Servicing
The device is maintenance-free. It does not contain mechanical movable or other parts which have
wear.
