12.1 Electrical connection
The electrical connections have to be done according to the circuit diagram which is printed onto the
backside of the device:
12.2 Actuator motor (M)
The actuator motor of the trim flap must be connected to the lower screw terminal. It is fed directly
by the SimpleTrim. The consumed current is monitored and limited internally in the device to the
amount which is given on the type plate of SimpleTrim.
12.3 Power supply
The supply voltage of the battery buffered DC bus must be connected to the large screw terminal (2
from bottom).
The wire for the connection "+12 V" has to be protected externally against short
circuit.
The SimpleTrim device is protected internally against transient spikes up to ±100 V and reverse
polarity by the use of high-quality components. Therefore, it is not necessary to disconnect it from
the power bus during cranking and shut-off of the aircraft main engine.
12.4 External pushbutton (SW)
All three connections of the external switch (SW) have to be connected according to the circuit
diagram. The pushbutton is supplied with a 5 V auxiliary voltage directly by the SimpleTrim. The
pushbutton inputs are protected against short-circuit against 12 V.
A high-quality, self-centering pushbutton with redundant contacts should be used.
12.5 Display of the actual flap position (R
The display of the actual trim flap position is done by the use of an external potentiometer "R
which has to be mechanically connected to the trim flap. It has to be connected to the upper screw
terminal of the SimpleTrim and is supplied directly by it.
The wiper contact has to be connected directly to the SimpleTrim (i.e. it must not be short-
circuited against the upper or lower pin of the potentiometer). The wiper input of SimpleTrim is
protected against short-circuit against 12 V.
