Video Surveillance Cameras
GB
with IR LEDs
Please read these operating instructions carefully prior
to the installation and keep them for later use.
1 Applications
The colour cameras TVCCD-180COL and TVCCD-
180HCOL (high resolution) are especially designed for
the use in video surveillance systems. They are
equipped with a replaceable fixed focus lens and an
automatic gain control (AGC) as well as an automatic
electronic shutter for exposure control.
They are provided with a brightness-controlled
infrared light source consisting of light diodes which
lights up the surveillance area when darkness falls. The
cameras have an automatic white balance and switch to
black/white operation in case of darkness. The camera
housings are weatherproof, have a removable sunshield
and are supplied with a wall/ceiling bracket with ball
joint.
2 Safety Notes
The camera corresponds to all required directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
G
Protect the camera against heat and cold (admissible
ambient temperature 0 – 40 °C).
G
The camera housing is watertight according to IP 57
(TVCCD-180COL) or IP 67 (TVCCD-180HCOL), i. e.
maximum water depth 1 m and maximum submersion
time 1 hour.
G
For cleaning the camera do not use any strong deter-
gents or chemicals.
G
If the camera is used for purposes other than orig inally
intended, if it is not correctly mounted or con nected, or
not repaired in an expert way, no guar antee claims for
the camera or liability for any result ing personal dam-
age or material damage will be accepted.
If the camera is to be put out of operation defin-
i tively, take it to a local recycling plant for a dis-
posal which is not harmful to the environment.
3 Mounting and Connection
Important!
The connection inline jacks (9, 10) and the cable dis-
tributor (8) are not weatherproof. In case of outdoor
connection they must be protected accordingly.
1) Mount the camera via the supplied bracket to a cor-
responding place at the wall or ceiling. For tightly
screwing the bracket to the camera, two threaded
jacks (7) are recessed in the housing (thread

").
4
2) Make the electric connection according to the figure
below via the two inline jacks:
a) Connect the operating voltage of 12 V via a low
voltage plug 5.5/2.1 mm (outside/inside diameter)
to the coaxial supply inline jack (9) [inside con-

tact = positive pole]. An electronically regulated
power supply unit with an output voltage of 12 V
is required (e. g. of MONACOR PS-12CCD or for
outside applications PS-120WP). The maximum
current consumption with infrared illumination
switched on is:

TVCCD-180HCOL: 330 mA
b) Feed the video signal from the BNC inline jack (10)
via a 75 Ω coaxial cable to the video input jack of
the monitor. Observe the correct 75 Ω termina tion
at the monitor or in case of series connection at the
last monitor. If the cable length exceeds 100 m, a
video amplifier should be inserted be tween the
camera and the long cable to compensate the
cable losses.
3) When using several cameras, insert a video split-
ter (e. g. TVSP-44COL of MONACOR) or a camera
switcher (e. g. TVS-40, TVS-80 of MONACOR) be -
tween the cameras and the monitor.
4 Setting into Operation
1) After applying the operating voltage and switching on
the monitor, align the camera to the surveillance
.
area. If the supplied bracket is used, release the wing
nut for fixing the ball joint and retighten it after
aligning.
2) If the area to be monitored is not reproduced clearly,
the mechanical focus setting must be corrected. For

this purpose pull off the sunshield (4) from the cam-
era in forward direction. Screw off the front housing
part (5). Remove the rubber ring (2) from the lens and
take off the PCB with the infrared light diodes (1).
Release the small screw at the lens support. Careful-
ly turn the lens so far until the image is clear. Then
retighten the screw.
3) After adjusting the lens, when screwing on the front
housing part (5) again, observe that the sealing ring
(6) is correctly in its groove so that the camera is suf-
ficiently sealed.
5 Replacement of the Lens
The cameras are supplied with a lens with a focal
length of 6 mm (TVCCD-180COL) or 3.6 mm (TVCCD-
180HCOL). If required, the lens can e. g. be replaced by
the following lens types of MONACOR to match the sur-
veillance area:

For replacement see operating steps 2) and 3) of chap-
ter 4. However, in this case turn out the lens completely.
