Removing cold water and ice

WARNING
Health hazard!
The water fi lter can only fi lter out fl oat-
ing particles from the water. It does not
destroy bacteria or microbes.
■ Only connect to the drinking water
supply.
■ When using the ice maker for the fi rst
time, do not consume the ice cubes
produced during the fi rst 6 hours.
■ If the water dispenser (ice or cold wa-
ter) has not been in use for at least
a week, replace the entire water sup-
ply (see Point 4 in Chapter "Switching
on the ice maker" on page EN-24). Dis-
pose of the water used to rinse the
system.
■ Replace the fi lter on a regular basis
(after 6 months maximum).
Risk of injury!
Improper operation may result in injury.
■ Do not insert fi ngers into the ice/cold
water outlet.
■ Do not insert objects such as knives,
forks or similar into the ice or cold wa-
ter outlet.
■ Do not use delicate glasses or cups to
catch the ice. These could break as a
result of the difference in tempera-
ture.
Health hazard!
Eating ice cubes which have been pre-
pared using impure or standing water
can be harmful to health! Incorrect
handling can lead to risks of causing
food poisoning.
■ Use only fresh drinking water to make
ice cubes.

CAUTION
Risk of injury!
■ Do not put ice cubes, crushed ice or
ice lollies straight into your mouth
from the freezer.

Function of the ice maker

When the freezer has reached the set tem-
perature, water runs into the ice tray and the
chambers, freezing into ice cubes. This pro-
duces about 10 ice cubes at a time. When the
ice cubes are finished (i.e. when the water is
frozen), the ice tray will tilt and the ice cubes
will fall into the ice cube container. This pro-
cess is repeated roughly 12-13 times a day.
When the ice cube container is full, no fresh
ice cubes are produced.
After the first time the appliance is operated, it
takes about 6 hours until ice cubes are avail-
able.
In order to produce crushed ice, the ice cubes
are chopped into chunks of only a few milli-
metres. This occurs within a grinding mech-
anism located inside the ice cube container.
Cold water, crushed ice and ice cubes pass
through the ice dispenser and are dispensed
via the ice outlet.

Using the ice maker

The production of ice cubes and crushed ice
creates noise. The water vent hums. Water
flows into the ice tray. The grinding mecha-
nism grinds ice cubes. Finished ice cubes fall
into the ice cube container. These noises are
normal.
When ice cubes are dispensed, there may be
loud cracking noises. This is also not a cause
for concern.
