6.7.2. Checking the brake pads

The brake pads must be replaced if they
• are less than 2.5 mm thick (height of carrier plate and friction lining)
• have come into contact with oil (leads to low braking power)
For checking:
• Pull one brake lever firmly towards the hand-
lebars.
• Then insert the back of the transport lock bet-
ween the carrier plates of the corresponding
brake caliper.
• If the transport lock fits between the brake
pads, they are not worn out.
• Alternatively you can put the removed brake
pads into the small notch in the transport lock.
The pads are worn out if they fit into the notch.

6.7.3. Checking the thickness of the brake discs

The brake discs should be replaced if they are less than 1.8 mm thick. You can de-
termine the thickness with the caliper gauge.
7. Cleaning
• If necessary, clean the pedelec with water and a sponge or soft brush.
• The Gates Carbon Drive Belt is also cleaned with water and does not need to
be lubricated.
A water jet, e.g. from a garden hose, can cause damage to bearings, bat-
teries, motor, display and Rohloff hub.
→ Do not point the water jet at the marked parts.
Oil that gets onto the brake discs or pads will reduce the braking effect.
→ Prevent oil from coming into contact with brake discs or pads.
→ Remove the oil immediately with petroleum spirit/spirit/acetone.
