Precautions for safety

• Read these "Precautions for safety" carefully before installation work.
• The precautions described below include important items regarding safety. Observe them without fail. Understand the
following details (indications and symbols) before reading the body text, and follow the instructions.
The meanings of indications
Text set off in this manner indicates that failure to adhere to the directions in the warning could result
WARNING
in serious bodily harm or loss of life if the product is handled improperly.
Text set off in this manner indicates that failure to adhere to the directions in the caution could result
CAUTION
in serious bodily injury or damage to property if the product is handled improperly.
• After completion of installation, perform test run to check for any problems. Explain method of use and maintenance to the
customer by following the descriptions in the manual. Ask customer to keep this Manual at accessible place for future
reference.
WARNING
• Installation work must be done according to this installation manual using the tools and pipes produced
specifically for R410A.
The new HFC type refrigerant (R410A) is pressurized at 1.6 times higher than conventional refrigerants (R22).
If the specialized piping materials are not used or the installation is defective, it could result in an explosion and injury as
well as water leaks, electric shock, or fire.
• Ask your vendor or a specialist to do the installation.
Doing the installation yourself could result in water leaks, electric shock, or fire.
• Do the installation according to the installation manual.
A defective installation could result in water leaks, electric shock, or fire.
• If the air conditioner is installed in a small room, countermeasures to prevent the refrigerant from exceeding
dangerous concentrations in the event of a leak are required.
Consult your vendor regarding countermeasures to prevent the refrigerant from exceeding the concentration limit before
installation. If the refrigerant should leak and exceed the concentration limit, hypoxia may occur.
• Do the installation in a location that can fully support heavy loads.
If it is not strong enough, the unit may fall and result in injury.
• Do the installation to specifications that can withstand earthquakes or strong winds such as in a typhoon.
A defective installation could result in an accident if the air conditioner tips over or falls.
• Ventilate the area if the refrigerant gas leaks during installation work.
If the refrigerant gas is exposed to fire it produces poison gas.
• After completing the installation, check that there are no refrigerant gas leaks.
The refrigerant gas could produce poison gas if it comes into contact with an open flame, such as a heater, stove, or cooker.
• Electrical work should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with laws and regulations in the
community and the installation manual. A dedicated circuit must be used.
An under capacity electrical circuit or defective electrical installation may cause electric shock or fire.
• Wires should be connected firmly using the specified cables, and terminal connectors should be firmly fixed in
place so that they are not subjected to the external force of the cables.
Incomplete connections or fastenings might cause fire, etc.
• Always connect a earth wire.
Do not connect the earth wire to a gas pipe, water pipe, lightning rod, or telephone earth wire.
Incomplete grounding may cause electric shock.
CAUTION
• Flare nuts must be tightened with a torque wrench in the specified manner.
If a flare nut is over tightened, it may break after a long period of time and cause a refrigerant leak.
