VC MANUAL
2.6 MINIMUM IMPEDANCE DISPLAY
(VC 1200 only)
The VC 1200 power amp is designed to handle two
distinct minimum impedances.
A: LED ON
4 OHM (STEREO, MONO mode)
8 OHM (BRIDGE mode)
At this minimum impedance, the power amp provides its
maximum output of 2 x 600 W or 1 x 1200 W in BRIGDE
mode.
This impedance value results from speaker cabinets
connected in parallel to each power amp side.
• 16 ohms + 16 ohms + 16 ohms + 16 ohms = 4 ohms
• 8 ohms + 8 ohms = 4 ohms
B: LED OFF
2 OHM (STEREO, MONO mode)
4 OHM (BRIDGE mode)
The power amp also delivers maximum output at this
minimum impedance.
Here too the impedance value results from speaker
cabinets connected in parallel to each power amp side.
• 8 ohms + 8 ohms + 8 ohms + 8 ohms = 2 ohms
• 4 ohms + 4 ohms = 2 ohms
ATTENTION:
The minimum impedance must be adjusted internally from
4 ohms (standard issue) to 2 ohms.
All you have to do is reconnect a blade terminal to a
circuit board inside the VC power amp's housing. First
disconnect the power cable from the mains input jack,
then remove the amp's cover - a detailed description of the
procedure is inscribed inside the housing. If you have any
questions, be sure to talk to your HK AUDIO dealer.
2.7 LIMITER ON/OFF (VC 1200 only)
To protect speaker systems from potentially dangerous
level peaks, the VC 1200 is equipped with an integrated,
switchable peak limiter, which limits or reduces the output
signal when the power amp is operated near overload.
NOTE:
If you are using an external limiter (processor, controller,
etc.) with your system, turn the VC 1200's internal limiter
off.

3. GENERAL INFORMATION
3.1 VC 2400 BRIDGE MODE
The VC 2400 has enormous power reserves that can easily
destroy your speaker system when operated incorrectly, so
to avoid inadvertent bridging, we intentionally made the
process a bit more complex.
To set the amp to bridge mode, you must first make a
reversed-phase, balanced cable.
A: If the incoming signal is routed via an XLR jack, use a
cord equipped with two stereo 1/4" jacks to bridge the
amp.

B: If the incoming signal is routed via a stereo 1/4" jack,
use a cord equipped with two XLR jacks to bridge the amp.

XLR CROSSED PHASE CABLE
1. Route the input signal to Channel A:
2. Connect Channel A to Channel B via the special
reversed-phase cord.
3. Set the MONO/STEREO selector to STEREO (Section
2.4).
4. Connect the outputs (post bindings) as described in
Section 2.2.
Your VC 2400 now delivers 1 x 2400 W at 8 ohms
(average power).
