VC MANUAL
Input pin assignments are as follows:
XLR:
PIN 1: GROUND
PIN 2: +
PIN 3: -
Stereo 1/4"
TIP: +
RING: -
SHAFT: GROUND
All VC power amp inputs will accept mono 1/4" plugs for
unbalanced signals.
NOTE: What does "balanced" mean in this context?
1: ground ( Masse), 3: signal+ (Leiter+), 4: signal-(Leiter-)
1: ground ( Masse), 2: signal (Leiter)
The term "balanced" describes a special signal routing
method designed to avoid noise. The signal is routed via
two wires, i.e. a balanced pair. A balanced cable actually
consists of three conductors (signal +, signal -, ground),
whereas an unbalanced cable is equipped with just two
conductors (signal and ground).
2.2 OUTPUTS
Your VC power amp is equipped with binding posts for
connecting the amp to your speaker system. These
connectors ensure a secure connection and avoid short
circuits. Depending on the type of cabinets you have
available, you may have to use adapters for XLR or
speakon jacks.
Ensure you use the proper phase assignments (+ and -) as
indicated on your VC amp.
In bridged mode, use the red connectors for OUTPUTS A
and B and aqain ensure you use proper phase assignments
(+ and -).
WARNING:
The VC power amps are extremely powerful and
subsequently generate dangerous levels of output voltage.
To avoid electrical shock, ensure you never touch the bare
wire at the end of the cables when the amp is in operation.

2.3 GROUND STRAP
You can sever the chassis ground from the circuit ground
by removing the ground strap on the rear panel. The
ground contact remains connected to the housing. We
recommend you only remove the ground strap when you
encounter ground hum caused by several interconnected
power amps (refer to Section 2.1). The problem may be
eliminated by removing the ground straps of all amps
except the first one in the signal chain.
NOTE:
In some cases, hum is an indication that the alternating
current wiring is incorrect at some point in your system.
Do not attempt to correct the fault by removing the
grounding. Instead, you must ensure that proper safety
precautions for electrical wiring are heeded.
2.4. MONO/STEREO SELECTOR (VC 2400 only)
Button depressed = MONO mode
In this operating mode, the Channel A input signal is
routed internally to Channel B. Subsequently, a single
input signal is routed in parallel to the two sides of the
power amp (parallel mono).
Button not depressed = STEREO mode
Two independent signals are sent to Channel A and
Channel B, respectively.
2.5 MONO, STEREO and BRIDGE MODE
(VC 1200 only)
Selector switch to the left = MONO mode
(refer to the explanation above)
Selector switch in center position = STEREO mode
(refer to the explanation above)
Selector switch to the right = BRIDGE mode
In this mode, the two power amp blocks are bridged.
Consequently, your VC 1200 power amp delivers 1 x 1200
W at 8 ohms instead of the standard 2 x 600 W at 4 ohms.
This mode delivers extra power and is suitable for
applications such as driving two subwoofers in parallel.
NOTE:
Both GAIN controls on the front panel must be set to the
same position for proper operation in bridge mode. If they
are not, the current is reduced prematurely, thereby
reducing the amount of available power.
