Keep your work area tidy. An untidy work area can
lead to accidents.

Protect yourself from electric shocks. Avoid
contact with grounded items such as pipes, heaters,
ovens and refrigerators.
Keep children away. Do not let anyone else handle
the electric tool or power cable. Keep other people
away from your work area.
Keep your electric tools safe. When not in use,
electric tools should be stored in a dry, elevated or
locked location, out of the reach of children.
Do not overload your electric tools. They will work
better and longer if used as they were designed to.
Use the correct tool. Do not use under-powered
tools for heavy work. Use your electric tools only for
their intended purpose.
Wear suitable work clothes! Rubber gloves and
non-slip shoes are recommended for outdoor work.
If you have long hair, wear a hair net.
Wear protective glasses. For dusty work, wear
a facemask.
Do not use the power cable in ways for which it is
not intended. Never carry electric tools by their
power cable. Do not pull on the cable to remove the
plug from the power socket. Protect the cable from
heat, oil and sharp edges.
Secure the work piece. Use clamps or a vice to hold
the work piece firmly. This is certainly safer than
holding it in your hand, and leaves both hands free to
operate the tool.
Stand normally. Make sure that you are standing
comfortably, with your weight evenly distributed.
Look after your tools. Keep tools sharp and clean
so you can work more efficiently and safely. Follow
the tool-maintenance guidelines and have any
damaged tools repaired or replaced by a qualified
specialist. Check the extension lead regularly and
replace it if damaged. Ensure handles are dry and
free of oil and grease.
Remove the plug from the power point: When the
tool is not in use, before undertaking maintenance
and when changing tools.
Do not leave adjusting devices in the tool. Before
you switch it on, check that you have removed the
key or other adjusting tool.
Do not turn tools on accidentally. Do not carry
tools attached to the power point with your finger on
the ON/OFF switch. Make sure that the switch is OFF
when you plug the tool in to the power point.
