Explanation of engineering terms

DiSEqC
is a standardized control instruction to select the satellite position in digital multifeed
systems, for instance.
DiSEqC is a registered trademark of Eutelsat.
LNB (LOW NOISE BLOCK CONVERTER)
The LNB is an electronic receiver which converts the satellite signals reflected from
the bowl into frequencies which the satellite receiver is able to process.
Polarization
Polarization makes it possible to reproduce several programs on the same frequen-
cy band. The satellite signals transmitted are signals of a linear polarization at a ver-
tical and a horizontal level. When setting new programs you are free to change over
between a vertical level (14 V) and a horizontal level (18 V).
Scart
is a normalized (currently common) 21-pole link to connect video recorders, satellite
receivers, decoders, and TV sets.
22 kHz control signal
This control signal enables the receiver to control a change-over to the various LNBs
of a multifeed satellite system.
