∙ Children must not be permitted to
play with the appliance.
∙ Caution: Keep any packaging materials
well away from children – these materials
are a potential source of danger, e.g. of
suffocation.
∙ Every time the appliance is used, the
main body including the power cord as
well as any attachment fi tted should
be checked thoroughly for any defects.
Should the appliance, for instance, have
been dropped onto a hard surface, or if
excessive force has been used to pull the
power cord, it must no longer be used:
even invisible damage may have adverse
effects on the operational safety of the
appliance.
∙ Always position the appliance on a level
heat-resistant surface.
∙ Caution: The housing becomes hot
during use. Beware of hot steam escaping
from the area around the lid; there is a
danger of scalding.
∙ Do not allow the power cord to touch any
hot parts of the appliance.
∙ Unwind the cord completely before use.
∙ To prevent damage to the appliance and
to minimise the risk of personal injury,
- do not heat up the appliance when
empty, and fi ll the container with water
before connecting the unit to the mains,
- do not fi ll it right up to the rim,
- do not operate it without the lid,
- do not place it on a hot surface (hot-
plate etc.),
- do not move or carry it when still hot.
∙ Always remove the plug from the wall
socket
- after use,
- in case of any malfunction,
- when cleaning the appliance.
∙ When removing the plug from the wall
socket, never pull on the power cord;
always grip the plug itself.
∙ No responsibility will be accepted if
damage results from improper use, or if
these instructions are not complied with.
∙ We reserve the right to introduce changes
related to technical progress.
Before using for the fi rst time
∙ Before the cooker is used for the fi rst
time, the lid, the inside of the container
and the grid insert should be cleaned with
a moist cloth.
∙ For reasons of hygiene, fi ll the container
with about 3 litres of water before it is
used for the fi rst time and let it boil for
approx. 5 minutes (thermostat setting:
'Boil').
∙ When the appliance is switched on for the
fi rst time, a slight smell may be emitted.
This is normal and will only last for a very
short time. For that reason, adequate
ventilation should be ensured by opening
windows or balcony doors.
Temperature control (thermostat)
∙ The appliance is equipped with a
continuously adjustable thermostat (see
diagram).
