The sanding pad has a hook and loop type fitting sys-
tem which allows easy and rapid fitting of a sanding
paper.
A s san d ing papers h a v e h oles f or d ust e x tra c tion,
mount a san d ing paper so t h at t h e h oles in a san d ing
paper mat c h t h ose in t h e san d ing pa d .
T o remo v e a san d ing paper, raise its en d an d peel it o f f .
Loosen and remove the application tool installation bolt
using a h e x w ren c h an d t h en take o f f t h e appli c ation
tool.

OPERATION

WARNING:
Before starting the tool and
during operation, keep your hand and face a w ay
from the application tool.
CAUTION:
Do not apply excessive load to the
tool w hich may cause a motor lock and stop the
tool.
Cutting, saw ing and scraping
CAUTION:
Do not move on the tool forcibly
in the direction ( eg. to w ards either side ) of tool
application w ith no cutting edge. I t ma y d amage
t h e tool.

NOTE: F or c ing or e x c essi v e pressure on t h e tool ma y
reduce efficiency.
NOTE: Be f ore c utting operation, it is re c ommen d e d to
preset the orbital stroke rate 3 - 5.
Sanding
CAUTION:
Do not reuse a sanding paper used
for sanding metal to sand w ood.
CAUTION:
Do not use a w orn sanding paper
or sanding paper w ithout grit.

NOTE: U sing a test material sample to tr y is re c om-
mendable to determine a correct orbital stroke rate
suitable for your work.
NOTE: U se a san d ing paper w it h t h e same grit until
san d ing t h e w h ole w orkpie c e is c omplete d . R epla c ing
a san d ing paper w it h d i f f erent grit san d ing paper ma y
not get a fine finish.
Dust extraction attachment
Optional accessory
WARNING:
Do not use extraction attachment
w hen grinding a metallic w orkpiece w ith this tool.
H ot d ust ma y ignite d ust in t h e v a c uum c leaner an d it
may cause fire.
W h en y ou w is h to per f orm c leaner operation, install t h e
dust extraction attachment to the tool. Connect a hose
o f v a c uum c leaner to t h e d ust e x tra c tion atta c h ment.

Assemble the dust extraction attachment and install it
to t h e tool.
1.
Install joint, dust nozzle and dust attachment.
2.
Install the nozzle band on the tool so that its pro-
trusions fit in the holes in the tool to secure it.
3.

them with the application tool installation bolt.

NOTICE:
When using the pad with STARLOCK
marking, be sure to install the spacer between the
d ust atta c h ment an d t h e f elt ring.

MAINTENANCE

CAUTION:
Al w ays be sure that the tool is
s w itched off and unplugged before attempting to
perform inspection or maintenance.
NOTICE:
Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner,
alcohol or the like. Discoloration, deformation or
cracks may result.
T o maintain pro d u c t S A F E T Y an d R E L I A B I L I T Y ,
repairs, any other maintenance or adjustment should
be performed by Makita Authorized or Factory Service
Centers, always using Makita replacement parts.
Cleaning
F rom time to time w ipe o f f t h e tool using a d r y c lot h or a
c lot h d ampene d in soap y w ater.
