Optional – inserting the pad:
► Optional – inserting the pad: Use the hook and loop closure to attach
the pad to the inside of the brace so that it is at least 1 cm above the seat
surface when seated.
Fitting and application
1) Fitting the metal rods (see fig. 1): Remove the 4 dorsal metal rods
from the pockets and fit them to the lumbar spine individually. Put the
metal rods back in the pockets.
2) Application (see fig. 2): Place the brace around the torso. Place the fin­
gers in the hand straps of the abdominal closure. Apply equal force to
both sides to pull the brace forward.
3) Hook and loop material (see fig. 3): Attach the right part to the top of
the left part of the abdominal closure. Remove the fingers from the left
and then from the right hand strap. Make sure that the hook and loop
surfaces are closed evenly against each other and are not in contact with
clothing or skin.
4) Increasing compression: Pull the ends of the straps forward (see
fig. 4) and attach them to the closure (see fig. 5).
Final steps
1) Final inspection: Verify the correct fit and proper positioning of the
brace during handover to the patient. The brace is positioned correctly
when the lower edge of the brace extends just below the groin.
2) Instruct the patient: Explain to the patient how to apply the brace and
ensure that it is positioned correctly. Practice the application and
removal of the brace with the patient.
4.3 Cleaning

Use of improper cleaning agents
Damage to the product due to use of improper cleaning agents
► Only clean the product with the approved cleaning agents.
Clean the brace regularly:
1) Close all hook-and-loop closures.
2) Recommendation: Use a laundry bag or net.
3) Wash the brace in warm water at 40 °C with standard mild detergent. Do
not use fabric softener. Rinse well.
4) Allow to air dry. Do not expose to direct heat sources (e.g. sunlight,
stove or radiator).
