8. HP BASIC disk 1 contains a README file also. It contains information
about the HP BASIC software. If you want, you can read it now by
inserting that disk and following the directions in the previous step.
Otherwise, you can read the file at another time.
You've now completed the main part of the setup procedure. Store your disks
in a safe place. Whenever you turn on the controller, it will automatically start
PAM from the hard disk-but only if you don't have a disk in drive A: (the
upper drive).
What you do next depends upon your system:
• If you want to be able to start HP BASIC from PAM, or if you want
HP BASIC to start automatically at turn-on, go to "Adding HP BASIC to
the PAM Menu" below.
• If you have a hard disk that's larger than 32 megabytes, you can create an
extended partition that uses the remaining capacity of the hard disk. Go to
the section "Creating an Extended Partition" below. (To find out the size of
your hard disk, see your Controller Checklist sheet.)
• If you want to install accessories or connect peripherals, go to the section
"Adding to the System."
• If you want to install other software onto your hard disk, go to the section
"Installing Application Software."
• If you want to begin using HP BASIC, skip to the section "Working with the
System."
