Description
Infrared contact safety buffer consisting of:
- A central control box to which the power should be connected (12-24
Vac/24 Vdc). Two contacts are available (C and NC) which can be wired
to an external control device such as a radioprogrammer. The other five
binding posts are dedicated to the interconnection of the two infrared
units.
- A transmitter end cap containing the infrared transmission and circuit
and its focusing dish.
- A receiver end cap containing the amplified receiver circuit and its
focusing dish, together with a 3m shielded multipolar cable.
- A double chamber rubber profile, the chamber nearest to the barrier
itself is used for the passage of the shielded cable which connects the
transmitter to the receiver.
- Optional aluminium profile for non standard installations.
Use
The infrared contact safety buffer represents an efficient anticrush safety
system which is particularly indicated for the protection of:
- Automatic road barriers
- Automatic overhead garage doors
- Automatic sliding gates (only for application on non moving parts).
One infrared transmitter/receiver unit is able to protect up to a maxi-
mum extension of 6 mt.
Packing: cardboard
Technical specifications
- Power supply:
- Max power consumption:
- Drop out delay (adjustable)
- Operating temperature:
Characteristics of the infrared beam
- Frequency of the pulse train
- Emitting diode
- Emission cone opening
- Maximum operating range
- Range selection via jumpers
- Control: double relay control with serial exchange as required by the
standard UNI 8612 regarding protection against accidents for gates,
doors and automatic opening systems.
- protection grade IP55
Assembly procedure
1) Cut the rubber profile to the length required in order to cover the
impact zone, making sure that the cut is neat with no jagged edges.

Make a cut in the chamber dividing wall about 10mm deep in order to
permit the complete insertion of the two caps (see figure 3 A). Position
the transmitter and receiver caps taking into account the following:
- For road barriers: The receiver cap must be fastened to the bar at the
end which is closest to the support column (fig.3).
- For sliding gates and garage doors: The receiver cap must be fastened
as close as possible to the control box (fig.4).
- The length of the shielded monopolar connecting cable depends on
the size of the installation to which it is to be applied. The maximum
permissible length is 6 mt.

2) Pass the shielded cable (cross section of each pole = 0.5 mm)
through the relative chamber (the smallest one, located near the fas-
tening profile), until it protrudes from the other end by 5cm. Connect
the cable to the terminal block following the indications in figure 3.
3) Insert the terminal block inside the interconnecting chamber and
insert the caps making sure that they are well aligned.

This product has been tried and tested in the manufacturer's laboratory,
during the installation of the product follow the supplied indications
carefully.
All rights reserved. Unauthorised copying or use of the information contained in this document is punishable by law
Caution: Do not stretch the cables during the installation. Make sure
that the black and blue wires inside the caps do not hinder the insertion
of the rubber profile.
4) Connect the multipolar cable leaving the receiver cap to the safety
buffer control box by following the terminal connections shown in
fig.2.
NB: For external applications:
- Road barriers
- Sliding gates
The joints between the caps and the rubber profile should be carefully
sealed using silicon.

the red alarm Led "L2" will turn off after briefly flashing. The system,
assuming that it has been correctly installed, will be at rest.
7) Set the desired drop out delay using the setting trimmer (DELAY,
fig.2); rotating this trimmer clockwise will reduce the value. The possible
settings range from about 0.5 to 3.5 seconds.
8) Carry out an operational check with the system working in automatic,
by pressing the contact safety buffer (so simulating an emergency situ-
ation) and verify its good working order.
Function anomalies
1) The red alarm led remains lit
- Check that the range selection has been carried out correctly.
- Check the integrity of the rubber profile and in particular its linear-
ity.
- Check that the connection between the receiver Rx and the transmit-
ter Tx is correct.
2) The red alarm led flashes
- The selected range may not be coherent with the system. Check the
selected value.
Fig.1
- If the problem persists check that there are no power cables passing
near the shielded cable (such as those supplying motors etc).
