BASIC OPERATIONS AND PERFORMANCES

GENERATOR WELDING
Autogenous welding is the junction by melting of parts of the same type with or
without filler metal.
This technique is basically used for steels.
Acetylene was previously considered essential to obtain the calorific power requi-
red for autogenous welding of steels. Packaging constraints for acetylene also
prevented advanced miniaturisation.
OXYPOWER® CV 60 and CV220 are now offering high-quality autogenous wel-
ding solutions for the DIY market.
Campingaz® combines three features:
- petroleum-based fuel with a very high calorific power: butane/propane mix.
- pilot flame tip technology.
- filler metal in special stabilised steel.
These three items combine to produce genuine autogenous welding.
Backed as usual by the simplicity and safety of Campingaz® equipment, the OXY-
POWER® range puts all metal welding work at your fingertips.
Advantages of autogenous welding:
- Tremendous mechanical strength (equal of that of the joined parts).
- Suitable for parts between 0.6 and 3 mm thick (up to 4 mm in some cases, with
filler metal).
- Good cord appearance.
- Low cost price.
Disadvantage of autogenous welding:
Only metals of the same type may be joined using this method.
Main applications:
Recommended for joining steel sections, ironwork, thin sheets, car bodywork,
metal furniture, steel pipes for central heating or pipelines, etc.
