Flame appearance:
a) normal setting
b) excessive fuel gas
Extended bright yellow cone - piloting and cone together
c) excessive oxygen
very tight, detaching mauve cone accompanied by a high whistle
Important
The flame must be set correctly for optimum performance.
- normal setting (Fig. 1): required for weld brazing and autogenous welding.
- if the flame is oxidising (Fig. 3): the pool foams and the weld is of poor quality
(formation of iron oxide).
- if there is excessive fuel (Fig. 2): the flame is not hot enough. Low fuel adjust-
ments should be used for light firing operations or for welding tin.
Flame power:
The pilot flame tip is original since it produces various flame powers with the same
tip and therefore has tremendous adjustment flexibility.
Use the tips within the planned flow rates, i.e. before the flame detaches.
