Destination and use
The USB receiver receives and displays sWave® wireless telegrams.
These data can be processed or other processes can be started with
the corresponding software. The transmission is carried out on a fre-
quency of 868 MHz or 915 MHz for the uSA and Canada. The transmit-
ters must support the sWave® protocol.
Design of sensing range
Because radio signals are electromagnetic waves the signal is attenu-
ated on its way from the transmitter to the receiver. This means the
electrical as well as the magnetic field strengths decrease and in fact
inversely proportional to the squared distance of transmitter and re-
ceiver (E,H~1/r²). In addition to this natural restriction of the sensing
range further interference factors occur: Metal parts, e. g. armours in
walls, metal foils of thermal insulations or vapour deposited metal
layer heat protection glass reflect electromagnetic waves. Therefore a
socalled deadspot can be found behind them. Indeed radio waves are
able to penetrate walls but the attenuation increases even more than
in the free field. Penetration of radio waves:
wood, gypsum, glas uncoated
brick stone, press boards
armoured concrete
metal, aluminium lamination
sight connection in free field: Long Range LR approx. 450 m
Ultra Long Range ULR approx. 700 m
Notices
The devices can be operated registration- and license-free on the ter-
ritory of the EC, Switzerland, Cyprus, Slovenia, Canada and the USA.
The use in other countries must be explicitely clarified! The electrical
connection may only be carried out by authorised personnel. The radio
receiver must not be used in connection with devices that may directly
or indirectly serve health- or life-saving purposes or cause hazards by
operation to human beings, animals or asset values. The declaration
of conformity is available on request or can be downloaded from our
website. Subject to technical modifications. The described products

tion. Moreover steute does not assume any liability for recommenda-
tions made or implied by this description. From this description new

Setting-up operation
After installation of the drivers the receiver can be accessed via a vir-
tual serial interface. The baud rate is fixed to 38400 Baud. For the first
use the receiver is set to »Gateway« mode. The mode of operation can
be selected via telegram and is stored until the next change. The LED-
light up green to indicate reception standby and orange to indicate the
receiption of a telegram. Concerning the format of the data observe
the separate telegram description.

Selection of operation mode
There are 6 different mode of operations which can be selected. For
the selection a telegram with an appropriate command must be trans-
ferred to the receiver.
Sniffer mode of operation
In the Sniffer mode all received telegrams are output at the serial in-
terface.
Gateway mode of operation
In the Gateway mode only telegrams of switchgear are displayed. Re-
sponse telegrams of receivers or repeaters are suppressed.
Receiver mode of operation
In this mode only telegrams of switchgear are displayed that have
been taught in before. The teachng in or deleting of switchgear is car-
ried out in the LearnMode.
Repeater 1K mode of operation
In this mode telegrams of switchgear are received and transferred in
order to increase the sensing range. Telegrams of other repeaters or
response telegrams are ignored.
Repeater 2K mode of operation
In this mode telegrams of switchgear are received and transferred in
order to increase the sensing range. Telegrams of other repeaters or
response telegrams are ignored. Telegrams of other 2K repeaters or
response telegrams are ignored.
Teach in mode of operation
In the teach in mode switchgear can be taught in or deleted. A maxi-
mum of 40 addresses can be stored. A telegram with an appropriate
command must be transferred to the receiver.
