To Select VOX Sensitivity:
Talkabout TA288 walkie-talkies allow you to adjust the VOX sensititvity
of the walkie-talkie to compensate for varying levels of background
noise and speech. The VOX edit mode allows you to choose between
high, and low settings. For example if you speak loudly, or are in a
noisy environment, the high setting (high bar) should be selected and
if you speak softly, or are in a quiet environment, the low setting (low
bar) should be selected. The middle setting (middle bar) is suitable
for most applications.
1. Ensuring the audio accessory is in place, press the Menu button
five times to enter the VOX sensitivity menu.
2. The headset icon will flash and the walkie-talkie will display the
current VOX setting:
3. Use the Scroll button to change the VOX setting, if required.
4. The walkie-talkie will return to the normal operating mode after a
few seconds or when you press the Mon button.
Reset To Push-to-Talk Mode:
1. Press Push-To-Talk button once. The headset icon will disappear.
2. To transmit, press Push-To-Talk button on walkie-talkie. To
receive, release the Push-To-Talk button.
3. To return to VOX mode, turn the walkie-talkie off, then on again
with the accessory in place.
Talkabout TA288 walkie-talkies also have built-in Internal Voice
Operated Transmission (iVOX) capability. This is a similar function to
the VOX because the sound of your voice activates transmission, but
no external accessories are needed.

To Use iVOX Feature:
1. Ensure walkie-talkie is turned off.
2. Press and hold down the Push-To-Talk button and switch on the
walkie-talkie using the Power button. The mic/iVOX icon will be
shown in the display.
3. Speak into the walkie-talkie.
4. To disable the iVOX feature, press the Push-To-Talk button, the
mic/iVOX icon will disappear and the walkie-talkie will return to
the normal operating mode.

Menu button five times to enter the iVOX sensitivity menu.
2. The mic/iVOX icon will flash and the walkie-talkie will display the
current VOX setting:

4. The walkie-talkie will return to the normal operating mode after a
few seconds or when you press the Mon button. Do not use the
Push-To-Talk button to exit this menu as this will disable the iVOX
feature.
