4.2. Network
You can interconnect a max. of 30 smoke alarms. If one of the smoke alarms in a network detects smoke, all connected smoke alarms generate an alarm
signal. Only the red LED of the smoke alarm that detects smoke, blinks quickly. If you press the test button, all connected smoke alarms generate an alarm
signal. In order to interconnect the smoke alarms, interconnect terminals 'a' and 'b' of the different smoke alarms. For the connections, see fig. 4 and fig. 5.
Use a standard data cable for connection. The terminals for the power supply ('N' and 'L') and the network connections ('a' and 'b') are completely galvanically
isolated. Interconnected smoke alarms can be connected on one common phase or on different phases.
4.3. Add-on modules
The relay module is supplied with the mounting cap (fig.3). Replace the old mounting cap without relay module by the new mounting cap with relay module.
Make the connections on the relay module. Keep the 230V connection (SELV) isolated from the connections for the relay. The relay switches in case of an
alarm generated by the smoke alarm. The relay module can be used to activate other alarm elements such as e.g. lights, horns... or to pass the alarm to the
Nikobus installation.
4.4. Check
Only test the smoke alarm by means of the test button. Don't test the smoke detector using candles, fire, cigarets etc. Weekly test all smoke alarms and certainly
test them if you have been absent for several weeks. Press the test button until the alarm is activated. You hear a pulsating alarm tone (see table below 4.1.).
All alarms that are connected to the smoke alarm, are activated as well. After 3s, the smoke alarm returns to standby mode. The acoustic alarm stops. Repeat
the test procedure as described below for every smoke alarm.

6. USAGE WARNINGS + PRODUCT MAINTENANCE
a. Cleaning the smoke alarm
Regularly clean the smoke alarm, especially if it is installed in a dusty place. This will decrease the change at errors, caused by dust and dirt.
Use a damp cloth and carefully dry the smoke alarm. Never paint the smoke alarm. Never expose the smoke alarm to water. If painting or
building activities are carried out in the vicinity of the smoke alarm, temporarily cover it with a plastic bag. Never tape up the smoke alarm
in order not to damage it.
WARNING: Cut off the power before cleaning the smoke alarm.
