3.4. Emergency power supply
Emergency battery supply
The smoke alarm is provided with an emergency battery supply of 9V. In case of a power interruption, the smoke alarm keeps functioning for as long as the
battery provides enough power. If the battery is empty or defective, the smoke alarm does not function in case of smoke detection If the smoke alarm beeps
every 32s and the red LED blinks, the battery supply is down too low. This warning lasts for 30 days. Replace the battery as soon as possible.
To replace the battery, proceed as follows:
1) Cut off the power of the group you wish to connect the smoke alarm to.
2) Remove the finishing plate of the smoke alarm by turning it counterclockwise.
3) Remove the old battery and insert a new one.
4) Place the finishing plate on the smoke alarm by turning it clockwise.
5) After replacing the emergency battery, test the operation of the smoke alarm by means of the test function.
Note: Hand in used batteries to a recognized collection point. Treat a battery as chemical waste.

4. OPERATION AND USE

4.1. Operation and LED status
If the smoke alarm is connected correctly, the green LED lights. The red LED blinks every 32s in confirmation of a good operation. In case of normal operation,
the smoke alarm checks whether there is smoke every 8s. Every 32s, a power supply test and smoke chamber test are carried out. If the smoke alarm detects
smoke, the 85dB alarm is activated and the red LED blinks quickly. The smoke alarms that are connected to the activated alarm are also activated. This keeps
on going until the sensor chamber is empty. The smoke alarm checks whether there is smoke every 8s. If no smoke is detected, the smoke alarm goes back
to standby mode. The acoustic alarm stops. If the red LED blinks every 32s and the alarm beeps in between, there is an error in the sensor chamber. The table
below provides a clear survey of all possible states of the smoke alarm and indications of the alarm, the red and green LEDs.
