Starting-up the unit

Non-stick coating
Grease the grill plates slightly before using for the fi rst time.
Use the appliance for 10 minutes with the grill plates closed
and without food (see use of the appliance). Then wipe
them clean with a moist cloth.
NOTE:
Any smoke or smells produced during this procedure are
normal. Please ensure suffi cient ventilation.

Using the unit

Fat Collecting Pan
Please note! The pan under the heating plate must be inserted.
This is where excess fat collects. When grilling you should check
the contents regularly and empty the pan when necessary.
Connection
1. Fully unwind the mains cable.
2. Before inserting the mains plug into the socket check
whether the voltage which you intend to use corresponds to
that of the machine. Please see the label on the machine for
details.
3. Only connect the machine to a correctly installed safety
socket, 230 V/50 Hz.
Control Lamp
After you have inserted the plug the red control lamp lights up to
indicate that the device is connected to the mains.
Angle of Inclination
With the rotating wheel (6) on the back of the device you can
change the angle of inclination (max. 10°) of the rear foot. This
makes it possible to direct the fat given off by the food being
grilled or the collected fat more easily into the fat collecting pan.
Warm-up time
The red control lamp goes on during the heating up period
and goes off when this is fi nished.
The warm-up time is approx. 5 min. During this time you
should keep the grilling surfaces closed.
1. Push the fat collecting pan under the hot plate. Please
ensure that it is pushed correctly into the guide rails.
2. The red control lamp goes on from time to time during ope-
ration to indicate that the temperature is being maintained.
3. Fold up the lid until it remains open and then place the food
to be grilled in position. Then close the lid gently.
The height/thickness of the food to be grilled should
not be more than 2.5 cm, as otherwise it is not
possible to close the grilling surfaces.
4. Grilling is fi nished after 8 to 10 minutes (depending on the
thickness of the food being grilled).

NOTE:
When opening the grill or pressing the surfaces of the grill,
please be careful of the vapours given off.
5. Open the cover and remove the cooked food with a wooden
fork or similar kitchen utensil. Do not use any sharp or
cutting objects as they may damage the coating of the grill
plates.
6. When food is not being grilled the grill surfaces should
always be kept closed.
7. Remove larger pieces of leftover food from the grilling
surfaces from time to time in order to prevent them from
burning.
Switching Off
If you would like to interrupt operation or switch the device off,
remove the plug from the socket. The red control lamp goes off.
WARNING:
Please note that the grilling surfaces continue to heat up and
remain hot fur a considerable time, so that they should not be
touched!
WARNING:
As the housing and the metal parts become hot during
operation you should allow the device to cool down before
storing it away.
Cleaning
Always pull out the plug from the mains socket before
cleaning and wait until the unit has cooled down.
Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.
Under no circumstances should the device be immersed in
water for cleaning.
Heating Plate
Please remove any food residues while they are still warm
with a damp cloth or paper towel. You can also use the
scraper supplied to clean the grooves.
Clean the heating plate with a soft sponge and soapy water.
Then wipe off with clear water and dry thoroughly with a soft
cloth. After drying please apply a thin fi lm of edible oil to the
surface.
Fat Collecting Pan
Pull out of the fat collecting pan. Shake the contents out and
clean the drawer in soapy water.
