Direction of travel and speed
The 51070 throttle features two
ranges for the throttle knob: "Center
Off" (traditional LGB style) and "Left
Off" (for more precise throttle con-
trol). You can select the range during
operations. Turn the throttle knob to
the new "Off" position (center or left)
to activate the new mode:
"Center-Off" mode
- Slide the switch at the top of the
throttle to the left. If you turn the
throttle knob to the right or left, the
loco will move forward. If you turn
the knob to the other direction, the
loco will move backward.
"Left-Off" mode
- Slide the switch at the top of the
throttle to the right. Now the entire
range of the throttle knob is avail-
able for precision control of your
locomotives. Turn the throttle knob
to the left, beyond the spring-
loaded "Off" position, to change the
direction of travel.
The two yellow LEDs indicate the
polarity of the tracks. Their intensity
increases with increasing track volt-
age.
Boost button
Press the Boost button to increase
the track voltage to the maximum
value. Now your locos accelerate
with the programmed acceleration
(see Programming acceleration and
braking). After you release the Boost
button, the locos brake with the pro-
grammed deceleration, until they
reach the speed selected with the
throttle knob.
Stop/Halt button
Press the Stop/Halt button to slow
your locos according to the pro-
grammed braking deceleration (see
Programming acceleration and
braking), until they stop. After you
release the Halt/Stop button, the
locos accelerate as programmed,
until they reach the speed selected
with the throttle knob.

Programming acceleration and
braking
You can program acceleration and
braking after switching to a different
throttle knob range and before you
activate the new throttle range.
Follow the steps shown in Figure 2.
Hints:
- Program the throttle in "Left Off"
mode only. Otherwise, the throttle
will be activated when the throttle
knob is turned beyond the "Center
Off" position during programming.
This will abort the programming.
- You can program acceleration and
braking separately. The other value
remains programmed until it is
reprogrammed.
- All values remain programmed
when the throttle is switched off or
when the throttle range is switched.
Load compensator
The 51070 throttle is equipped with a
non-adjustable load compensator.
With increasing power consumption,
motor voltage decreases due to loss-
es between throttle and locomotive.
The throttle automatically compen-
sates for this by increasing the out-
put voltage proportionally to the out-
put current. With this feature, trains
travelling at low and medium speeds
display a much more even speed,
whether going uphill, downhill or
around curves. The load compen-
sator also prevents a speed decrease
when an additional train enters the
track block.
Hint: The load compensator works
only:
- if the throttle knob is not on the
fastest setting and
- if a transformer with an output of
18 V AC or 24 V DC is used.
