6. Remove the cutting blade from the guides and displace
it around the wheels (H) (Fig. 50).
7. Inspect the new cutting blade for flaws (cracks, broken
teeth, bending) before installing it. The cutting blade
should be sharp and have a proper degree of rigidity.
Do not use faulty band saw blades.
8. Insert the new cutting blade through the guides and
around the wheels, making sure the teeth are pointing
in the proper cutting direction.
9. The blade tightness and the cutting blade guide should
be properly adjusted before proceeding. Refer to
the previous sections "Cutting blade tightness" and
"Cutting blade guide".
10. Install the rear cutting blade cover and plug the band
saw into the power supply again.
11. Now the new cutting blade must be "run in". A
carefully run-in cutting blade will last longer and will
give better performance. Leave the cutting blade to
run freely for about two minutes and then make two
or three cuts, preferably on a solid part to be cut with
a thickness of 4-5 mm. Exercise very light pressure on
the cutting blade and gradually increase the pressure
with each cut.

9.2 BRUSH INSPECTION AND
REPLACEMENT
BAND SAW UNDER VOLTAGE.
The electric voltage on the band saw may cause
serious bodily harm from electrocution and the band
saw may break down.
Before changing the cutting blade, unplug the band
saw from the power supply.
Use protective elements such as gloves, protective
eyewear and clothing and appropriate footwear.
Brush life varies. It depends on the load on the motor.
With a new band saw or after a new set of brushes has
been installed, check the brushes after the first 50 hours
of use.
After the first check, examine them after about 10 hours
of use until they need to be replaced.
