PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

Daily Inspections

• Inspect for hydraulic oil leaks. Tighten fitting connections.
• Check the telescopic forks for damage before start of
shift operation. Report damage or faulty operation to a
supervisor.
1000 Hour Maintenance
• Extend forks to lube the top of the fork blade with general
purpose chassis grease.
• Check bearings at tip of fork blade for wear. If worn to
less than 2 mm thick, replace the parts.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Equal extension of telescopic forks is not always 100%.
For forks equipped with a flow divider, the tolerance is
typically ± 3 %. Unequal fork movement can be corrected
by activating the control valve until both forks are fully
extended or retracted. If the difference is bigger than the
tolerance of the flow divider, then it could be caused by the
following faults:
Symptom
Unequal fork movement
In retracted position, forks are
moving without activating the control
valve.
Forks leak oil
Forks move in sudden shocks when
retracting and extending.
Too much play between inner and
outer fork.

5 Dirt in flow divider
6 Unequal hose length between
forks.
Leaking lift truck control valve.
Improper sealing of retainers.
Too low oil flow.
Bearing worn.
Possible Solution
1 Mount a flow divider (flow divider
can not be used with driver/
follower standard forks).
2 Exchange hoses
3 Mount the flow divider horizontally.
4 Replace piston seals
5 Clean the flow divider
6 Replace hoses with hoses of equal
length.
1 Inspect and replace seal
2 Mount a pilot operated check
valve.
Replace retainer seals.
Check oil level of the lift truck and
when needed add hydraulic oil.
Replace bearings.
