8. Cleaning/maintenance
Important!
The following are unsuitable for cleaning your
electric bike:
•
Acids
•
Grease
•
Oil
•
Brake cleaner (apart from the brake linings)
•
Liquids containing solvents.
The above substances will damage the surface
and contribute to wear on the electric bike. Make
sure that you dispose of lubricants, cleaning
agents and maintenance products in an envi-
ronmentally-friendly manner after use. These
substances should not be disposed of in the
household waste, the sewer or the environment.
Your electric bike requires proper maintenance
and care to provide trouble-free and long-lasting
service.
•
Clean your electric bike regularly with warm
water, a little cleaning agent and a sponge.
•
Clean the chain and oil it with a suitable, ap-
proved lubricant.
•
Clean the brakes
•
Clean the gear selector
•
Spray the entire bike with a suitable
wax polish or similar preserving agent.
Exceptions: brake disks, brake lever/shifter,
Saddle and Tyre.
Clean the refl ectors and headlights at regular
intervals. Warm water and cleaning agent or wa-
shing up liquid are suitable.
9. Maintenance
For road safety, check from time to time whether
all the electrical equipment is in proper working
order, whether any cables have come off and
whether any mechanical parts have become da-
maged. Clean the chain, the grooved disk, the fl y-
wheel and the derailleur gears at regular intervals,
in order to keep each part in proper working order.

10. Wear parts
Many parts on your electric bike will to some
extent suff er from considerable wear and tear
through normal use and in dependency on the
actual level of use.
These include:

Tires
•
Brake linings
•
Brake disks
•
Bicycle chain
•
Chain sprocket, sprocket wheel, derailleur
pulleys
•
Light system
•
Handlebar grips
•
Lubricants
•
Shift cables and brake cables
•
Bearings
•
Suspension elements
11. Disposal and recycling
The equipment is supplied in packaging to pre-
vent it from being damaged in transit. The raw
materials in this packaging can be reused or
recycled. The equipment and its accessories are
made of various types of material, such as metal
and plastic. Never place defective equipment in
your household refuse. The equipment should
be taken to a suitable collection center for proper
disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of
such a collection point, you should ask in your
local council offi ces.
