4.2.5 Stop Blasting Operation and Shut Down
Remove pressure from the pedal.
Blow media off of the cleaned parts using the blow-off nozzle. Permit the exhauster
to rid the blast cabinet of airborne dust before opening the door and unloading the parts.
Push the "OFF" button to turn off the exhauster. Turn the on/off switch to "0" to turn off the
lights and stop filter pulse cleaning (when fitted). Shut off the air supply to the blast cabinet
and then drain the air filter.

4.3 Adjustment

4.3.1 Blasting Pressure
The operator is able to regulate blasting pressure to correspond to the application by
using the pilot pressure regulator, which is located on the cabinet's control panel. For most
applications approximately 5-6 bar is appropriate. Delicate substrates may require lower
pressure, which can diminish media breakdown. Difficult blasting jobs on sturdy substrates
necessitate higher pressure but will increase media breakdown. Maximum production
can only be reached by carefully monitoring the blasting pressure. Turn the knob on the
pilot regulator on the front of the control panel to regulate air pressure. Pull the knob out
and turn it clockwise to increase pressure or counter-clockwise to decrease it. After the
operating pressure has been set, push the knob back in to lock it.
4.3.2 Media metering
Media volume flow is adjusted by the metering valve at the foot of the blast machine.
The abrasive metering valve consists of the valve body, abrasive in and outlets, as well as
the handle which is connected to the dosing disc. The dosing disc has an opening which is
of equal diameter to the abrasive inlet. The abrasive flow is regulated by the overlap of the
dosing opening to the abrasive inlet. The abrasive flow is greatest when the dosing opening
completely overlaps the abrasive inlet. This is the case when the handle is in the middle
position. By turning the handle to the left or right, the overlap and the flow is reduced. The
overlap is nil when the handle is in the full right or full left position, and the abrasive flow is nil.
Adjust flow rate according to type and size of blast media, blasting pressure, and
the task at hand, ensuring to use as little media as possible whilst still maintaining a high
cleaning pace. The correct mixture of air and abrasive can generally be distinguished by a
slight discoloration at the exit of the nozzle.
