Intended purpose
The IKA Screening-systems, 6 cells or 8 cells, are used to perform electrosynthesis for research and
development or small production runs in laboratories. The multiple-cell-design allows for testing
multiple conditions in the same vessel holding different parameters constant.
Safe functioning is only assured with the accessories listed in this instruction manual or recommended
by the manufacturer.
Which aids and operating material are used is the responsibility of the user.
Damaged or incorrectly fitted parts can cause serious accidents. Only use devices in full working
order. Only use devices in their original state.
Devices must not be opened unless instructed to do so in the manual of said device.
The cells in the Screening system must not be operated in explosive atmospheres or with materials
that could form an explosive mixture.
Other risks
Danger of injury due to electric shock from the power supply unit
Do not use the power supply unit if it is not working correctly. The device guard may be

damaged. If you are unsure whether the power supply unit is working correctly, have it repaired
by a specialist workshop.
Check supply lines for damage to insulation or exposed metal before commissioning. Replace

damaged supply lines with new ones.
Exceeding the Low Voltage Protection!

For the series connection of all output voltages, it is possible to exceed the low voltage
protection of 42 V. Please note that in this case any contact with live components is life-
threatening. It is assumed that only qualified and trained personnel service the power supplies
and the connected loads. When changing the mains voltage, it is essential to replace the fuse.
Otherwise the device may be destroyed.
Danger of explosion due to sparks from the power supply unit
Do not use the device in hazardous areas, it is not EX-proof.

In the case of substances, which can form an ignitable mixture, appropriate protective

measures, such as working under a fume hood, must be taken..
Danger of injury due to tipping or falling parts
Ensure that the parts are set up so they cannot tip over start to move.

Do not exceed permitted loads, torques and separations.

Before every use check whether all (clamp) connections are firm and secure.

Check that the caps of the cells and electrodes are properly tightened before each use.

The laboratory device may only be moved on the stand when the device is at a standstill and

unplugged.
