Improper use and associated risks

This hand edger has been designed and manufactured to minimise the risk of personal
injury. Risk assessment has led to the adoption of safety measures that eliminate the risk
of personal injury during proper or reasonable use.
- The diamond wheel has no sharp edges and only protrudes from the body
enough to permit edging. Nevertheless, avoid touching the wheel while it is
rotating. All moving parts are protected inside the body of the edger.
- The edger does not require and is not fitted with any emergency stop devices.
- Never clean the diamond wheel with rags or brushes while it is spinning.
- Always wear protective goggles when edging glass lenses.
Glass fragments may be projected into your face, especially if
the diamond wheel is rotating upwards.
- The edger generates a level of noise within the limits permitted for
working environments. No personal protective equipment other than safety
goggles is therefore required.
• The front of the edger is impermeable to any water splashes that might occur
during edging. The edger is NOT designed to be water-tight, however. For this
reason never immerse the edger in water and never expose it to water splashes
from other directions or to excessive humidity. If the edger ever becomes im-
mersed in water, do not use it again but contact Technical Assistance. If the
edger is operating at the time, disconnect the power cable from the mains
immediately.
Only connect or disconnect the power cable with perfectly dry hands and with
the edger standing in a dry area. Risk of electric shock!
• Never open the edger while it is working or connected to the mains (even if
switched off at the time). Risk of electric shock!
• Do not damage the body of the edger or its mains power cable. Risk of elec-
tric shock, accident, malfunctioning and fire. Replace all damaged parts im-
mediately.
• Never leave the edger motor running for more than 4 hours at a time.
Risk of overheating!
• Make sure that the mains supply to which the edger is connected conforms
to applicable standards and has an efficient earthing system.
• The edger does not generate electromagnetic disturbance that could interfe-
re with other equipment.
The edger is designed and manufactured for use only as explicitly stated or suggested in this
manual. All other uses are considered improper.
