DESCRIPTION OF THE EDGER

This machine is a manual diamond wheel edger. It is designed for finishing
shaped lens edges (bevelling and counter-bevelling) and for shaping or correcting
lens profiles. It can also be used for manual lens shaping.
TARGET USERS: The edger is intended for professionals in the optical trade. It must
only be used by adequately trained personnel.
FIELD OF APPLICATION: The edger is designed for use in lens finishing operations in
optical laboratories.
The edger is designed to use diamond wheels and to finish organic and mineral glass
lenses of the type normally used for optical purposes.
• This machine is not covered by Appendix IV of EEC directive 89/686.
The CE mark is therefore self-certified.

INSTALLATION AND ASSEMBLY

• Open the packaging and check the contents. Check that the packaging con-
tains all the parts listed on page 2, and that all parts are in perfect condition.
If any damage has been incurred during transport, do not install or use the
edger but contact the manufacturer's Technical Assistance immediately.
• Position the edger on a flat, stable and vibration-free surface.
Respect the ambient conditions specified on page 2. Leave a gap of 30 cm all
around the edger to ensure ease of operation, proper ventilation and rapid ac-
cess to the mains socket if emergency disconnection from the mains is needed.
• The mains power supply to which the edger is connected must
conform to applicable standards in the country of use, and must
be equipped with an efficient earthing connection in conformity to ap-
plicable standards.
• Though the edger does not emit fumes, steam or other hazardous vapours, the
working environment should nevertheless guarantee adequate ventilation.
• The working environment must also guarantee adequate natural or artificial
lighting to ensure operational safety and accuracy.
• If the drain hose is connected to the collection tank (the recommended in-
stallation), the drain hose should be fixed in place before the
edger is installed.
If the drain hose is not connected, make sure that the plug is screwed tightly
into the collection tank to prevent leaks. Empty the collection tank regularly.
