5. If the voltage is within the proper range, reconnect the power connector to
the unit.
6. Connect a computer, with PipeIQ installed, to the unit using either the USB
connection, or the Ethernet port located inside the wiring compartment of
the unit. (See the 'Connecting to FAAST XT' for detailed connection instruc-
tions.)
7. Use the PipeIQ software to set up the unit configuration required for the
particular application.
8. The PC may now be disconnected unless a permanent networked connec-
tion is desired.
9. Verify the system fan starts up and air begins to flow out of the exhaust
port. The user interface will provide the device status.
10. The device will establish an airflow baseline during the first five
minutes of operation after powering on, following the successful
download of a configuration to the device from PipeIQ, or after ini-
tiating Baseline Reset from Functions menu on the unit's display.
During the initial baseline period the LCD will display Baseline message.
The calculated baseline is stored in the device's non-volatile memory
and is used to monitor changes in the system's airflow that may be
caused my dust build up, broken piping, clogged holes, etc. Therefore,
it is important to verify that the system is setup and installed per the
PipeIQ design file and meets the requirement of the local codes and au-
thorities.
The Baseline message is also displayed after power on reset, following the
initial baseline period. During the five minutes after power up the device
is monitoring the system to determine the current airflow baseline of the
system. Once the current airflow baseline is established, it is compared to
This aspiration detector does not produce any hazardous laser radiation and is certified
as a Class 1 laser product under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
(DHHS) Radiation Performance Standard according to the Radiation Control for Health
and Safety Act of 1968. Any radiation emitted inside the smoke detector is completely
within the protective housings and external covers.
System Sensor warrants its enclosed smoke detector to be free from defects in materials
and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of three years from date
of manufacture. System Sensor makes no other express warranty for this smoke detec-
tor. No agent, representative, dealer, or employee of the Company has the authority to
increase or alter the obligations or limitations of this Warranty. The Company's obligation

The use of all FAAST products (configuration, design, use and maintenance) must be performed in accordance with the technical documentation, General Terms and Conditions
and local regulations and/or directives for design, installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems. Product Manuals, User Guides, White Papers, CAD Drawings, Datasheets,
Engineering specifications are available from www.www.faast-detection.com. The performance of this system is dependent upon the pipe network. Any extensions or modifications
to the designed installation may cause improper operation. The operational effects of such changes shall be verified. A design tool is available from the System Sensor webpage.
To maintain compliance with Access Level 3 requirements, all boxes referring to Lockout Configuration Menus in PipeIQ software (Configuration -> User Interface-Lockout ->
Configuration Menus) must be selected as active.
FAAST XT should not be installed in corrosive environments. Such environments may damage the keypad and could cause the buttons to stop operating.
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must
accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used
in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installa-
tion. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try
to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
– Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
– Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
– Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
– Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

MAINTENANCE

The only periodic maintenance required is to replace the filter assembly when
the filter light is illuminated. Perform the following procedure to replace the filter
assembly.
1. Remove power from the device or system.
2. Open the door that covers the User Interface LED indicators.
3. Remove the plastic name card over the LEDs.
4. Remove the two screws holding the filter assembly into the device.
5. Remove the filter assembly and replace it with a new assembly.
6. Torque the two phillips head
screws to 0.7 Nm or ¼ turn past
"lightly snug." DO NOT OVER-
TIGHTEN.
7. Replace the plastic name card
over the LEDs.
8. Close the door and apply power
to the device or system.
Other system checks may need to be
performed in accordance with local
or national codes and regulations.

LASER SAFETY INFORMATION

The laser beam cannot escape from the detector during any phase of operation.
The Center of Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the U. S. Food and Drug
Administration implemented regulations for laser products on August 2, 1976. These
