1. Introduction
1.1 Customer instructions
These operating instructions contain important information
on the safe, proper and economical operation of the pumps.
Strict observation of the operating instructions will help to
avoid dangers, reduce repair costs and shutdown times and
increase the reliability and working life of the pumps.
The operating instructions must be read and followed by all
persons carrying out any work on the pumps.
Persons carrying out any work on the pumps must read the
operating instructions before starting work, and especially
the Chapter "Safety instructions". It is too late to do this af-
ter having started work. This applies particularly to persons
only working on the pumps occasionally, e.g. maintenance
work.
These operating instructions must be available to mainte-
nance and repair personnel at all times. Always keep a copy
of these operating instructions available at the place of in-
stallation of the pumps!
These operating instructions must be ready to hand at all ti-
mes!
Before starting work on the pumps or carrying out mainte-
nance work or similar, first read the relevant chapter com-
pletely.
In case of doubt, please contact the manufacturer.
In addition to these operating instructions, the legal acci-
dent prevention regulations prevailing in the country of use
and at the point of installation must also be observed. The
accepted specialist, technical rules for safe and proper

1.2 Target groups
DEFINITIONS:
a) As the legally responsible person, the opera-
tor is responsible for the proper use of the
pumps, and for the training and use of authori-
sed persons. He defines the binding responsibi-
lities and instruction authority of authorised
persons.
b) Specialists are defined as persons, who on
the basis of their professional training, skills
and experience, are able to assess the work in
hand and recognise any possible dangers. They
are also aware of the applicable conditions.
These must be only properly trained specialists
or other persons who in the opinion of the ope-
rator possess the necessary skills.
c) Trained persons are persons who have been
trained or instructed in the required tasks and
the possible dangers resulting from incorrect
actions. They must also have been instructed
on the necessary safety devices and precau-
tions to be taken. Personnel undergoing training
or instruction may only work under the continu-
al supervision of an experienced person.
Installation, dismantling, maintenance or repair work
may only be carried out by properly trained specialists.
All other work on the pumps may be carried out by trai-
ned personnel.
All responsibilities must be clearly defined and demarca-
ted. The legally specified minimum age must be observed!
1.3 Liability and guarantee
All information and instructions on operation and maintenan-
ce are given to the best of our knowledge and on the basis of
past experience. These operating instructions have been
compiled with great care and attention. If they should be
found to contain any errors or omissions, please inform us
accordingly in writing. Your improvement suggestions will
help us to produce more user-friendly operating instructions.
