s Use appropriate detectors to determine
if utility lines are hidden in the work area
or call the local utility company for as-
sistance.
Contact with electric lines can lead to fire
and electric shock. Damaging a gas line can
lead to explosion. Penetrating a water line
causes property damage or may cause an
electric shock.
s Apply the machine to the workpiece only
when switched on.
s Always switch the machine off and wait until
it has come to a standstill before placing it
down.
s Never allow children to use the machine.
s Bosch is only able to ensure perfect opera-
tion of the machine if the original accesso-
ries intended for it are used.
Auxiliary Handle

The auxiliary handle 1 can be disassembled,
as required. Pull cover 11 toward the rear,
press down lever 10 and remove the auxiliary
handle 1.
Assembly is carried out in reverse order.
Several tool inserts as well as the open-end
spanner 12 can be stowed behind the
cover 11.
Changing the Tool

s Before any work on the machine itself,
pull the mains plug.
Press the spindle lock button 2 and turn the
tightening nut 3 until the spindle lock button
engages. Unscrew the tightening nut 3 using
the open-end spanner (size 16 mm) 12.
Insert the respective collet 4 into the tightening
nut 3, mount the tightening nut 3 and screw it
on by hand with approx. 5 turns.
Slide the cutting tool into the mark on the bit or
until approx. 3 mm of the tool shank are still
visible.

Press the spindle lock button 2 and tighten the
tightening nut 3 firmly using the open-end
spanner (size 16 mm) 12.
s The shank diameter of the cutting tool must
correspond with the given diameter of the
tool holding fixture.
s The cutting tools used must be approved for
the highest speed for this machine type.
Assembling/Disassembling/
Setting the Adjustable Base
Plate

Disassembly: (see figure
Open the clamping lever 13 and pull off the
base plate 6.
Assembly: (see figure
With the clamping lever 13 open, attach the
foot plate 6 onto the machine. Lock the base
plate with the clamping lever 13.
Adjusting the Cutting Depth:

Loosen wing screw 5. Adjust the base plate 6
in such a manner that the cutting tool pro-
trudes at least 6 mm out of the material to be
cut.
Tighten the wing screw 5.

Observe correct mains voltage: The voltage
of the power source must agree with the volt-
age specified on the nameplate of the ma-
chine. Equipment marked with 230 V can also
be connected to 220 V.
Machines marked with 100 V can also be con-
nected to 115 V.
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, press the On/Off
switch 9 upward.
Two speed ranges can be pre-selected with
the On/Off switch 9:
Stage 1:
Stage 2:
To switch off the machine, press the On/Off
switch 9 downward.
s Do not brake the run of the machine by
pressing the spindle lock button 2.
