Handling instructions
Velocity measuring probe (thermal)
0635.1041
Push the protective cover down until it clicks into
place, both openings must be clear.
Pay attention to the markings on the probe head and
telescope during measurements. Turn the telescope to
line up the markings.
During measurements in air flows of a known direc-
tion, the arrow on the probe should be positionned in
same direction as that of the air flow.
The correct measured value is obtained by
slightly twisting the probe head until the maximum
value is displayed.
Measuring procedure in ducts of an unknown
direction of flow.
Position the probe in the air flow. The probe axis
should be aligned with the assumed flow axis and the
measured values should be read. Turn the probe by
180 °, and take another reading. The largest measured
value indicates the direction of the air flow.
Measuring velocity
Recognising unknown flow
directions
Measuring procedure in flows with an unknown
flow axis.
The probe should be turned by 360 °C during this type
of measurement.
Keep a permanent eye on the measured value. The
maximum value indicates the direction of the air flow,
see the arrow on the probe head.

The protective cover should be closed once the mea-
surement is over. Make sure that the protective cover
is pushed over the O ring, so that the best possible
protection is guaranteed.
