JBL Permanent Test CO
Test principle:
An indicating device contains an indicator liquid which is separated
from the surrounding water by an air pocket. CO
downward opening of the appliance via the air pocket into the indicator.
After a short time the indicator liquid acquires the same CO
surrounding aquarium water. The indicator changes colour according to
the CO level: blue = too little CO
2
to yellow = too much CO
colour chart.
The air pocket described is vital for the level to be displayed precisely, as
the indicator would otherwise mix with the surrounding water and fade.
Advantages
Many CO permanent tests are filled with a mixture of aquarium water and

indicator. This means that the KH in the aquarium has to be measured
separately in order to be able to calculate the CO

ready for use and does not need to be diluted with aquarium water. The
CO level can therefore be measured directly, independent of other
2
acids in the aquarium water (e.g. humic acids or nitrate), as a numerical
value given in milligrams per litre.
Instructions for use
1. Remove the white cap and fill 35 drops of indicator liquid into the
transparent container.
2. Re-attach the white cap to the transparent container with the opening
towards the suction pad.
3. Move the indicator into a vertical position (with the suction pad at
the bottom) and fix it thus at a point with a good water flow, as far
away as possible from the diffuser in the aquarium. Make sure that
